A speck?

They had both practiced their abilities and to pass the time when they weren't scavenging or practicing Azadi had made board games and cards anything to help satiate their boredom. After that they had almost no issues though Azadi did seem to have nightmares but besides from that and the occasional Beast.

'It's December 11th now so I better do something special.'

Azadi had gotten up earlier than Dahlia which was usually not the case as he had the habit of sleeping in and she had the habit of getting up early.

Azadi made his way to the kitchen and prepared a cake of her favorite flavor which he had gotten her to tell him via the games they would play, he had also gotten her tell him a plethora of things in order to set this up to her tastes.

His feet on the cold marble floor he lifted his hand up to the table and summoned a little vanilla cake the perfect size for two people filled with fresh strawberries in its center.

'God "Daydreaming stuff" really does take too much energy but she said this was the best type of cake she's ever had.'

Next he had set up the balloons and all the decorations leaving him at half energy.

'She said if she could have one thing right now it was this.'

He wrapped up the present and awaited her to get up.

He looked at the watch he made himself for practice and it was already 10:30 AM which was strange as she should have awoken by now but just as he thought this he heard footsteps on the stairs.

Her face lit up with delight as she saw the decorations in the kitchen.

"Happy birthday Dahlia!"

She stood there for a second her smile from corner to corner.

"How did you know this was my favorite!"

Azadi who was standing there waiting for her to come down so that he could suprise her answers:

"Remember all those games we played? Well I baited you with some questions so I could do this"

He let out a chuckle before conjuring up a knife.

"Here cut the cake"

She grabbed the knife.

"Thank you.. really thank you."

He let out a soft smile as she said this and she cut the cake.

They enjoyed the cake that he conjured up and played some games and once they finished this he made the decorations disappear to regain some energy.

"Dahlia here"

It was the present he had wrapped earlier in which he handed to her.

"A gift?"

He looked at her in anticipation of her expression when she opened it.

"Go ahead, Open it."

She unwrapped the gift in excitement then in confusion.

"A… music box?"

Looking back at Azadi she saw a huge grin on his face.

"Crank it while thinking of a song in your head."

With confusion she cranked it while thinking of her favorite song

"You told me-"

A song was started playing midway through his words.

It was her favorite song, the exact song she was thinking of.

"That you wanted to listen to music again no? To be able to listen to your favorite song again?"

Azadi peered at her face to see gratitude and overwhelm streak across her face.

"This is… just.. too much! Thank you Az!"

He let out a chuckle.

"Glad you enjoyed my gift haha."

***

After she used the box more and they chatted before they got ready and stepped out the front door.

"Ready to head out?"

Dahlia turned to him and let out a sigh.

"Yeah.. I'd say I am."

They had everything they needed for whatever long arduous journey that they had ahead. They packed up their food and filled up on water for the next couple of weeks by Azadi making more gallons though he is now under half his energy but that was fine.

They began to walk towards the ruins they spotted all that time ago when they first arrived in the distance.

"How long do you think it'll take Az?"

Azadi thought for a bit. Afterall it was on the very edge of their vision, in fact they barely managed to notice the city at all.

"Hmm I'd guess about.. a day? Maybe two days? I don't know but it's probably our best shot of finding someone."

Azadi let out a yawn and they continued walking through the field which had trees and bushes scattered about but not enough to be considered being in that treacherous forest once again. Though the creatures they have been seeing are quite interesting, well to Dahlia atleast, Azadi just seems to want to sleep or lay down all day.

They traveled through the snowy fields, their breath showing in the air as they walked towards the horizon for hours.

"Yeah I'm already bored and tired"

Dahlia looked at him with confusion.

"So what?"

Turning to face her he already had white sparks in his eyes.

"I have just enough~"

Dahlia let out a sigh.

"Just do it."

With that the lazy dreamer created a large beast with the last of his energy and layed on it's giant saddle on its back.

The Beast was fluffy and soft as if it's fur has never been touched which we it hasn't yet. The Beast looked like a polar bear well kinda it was standing at almost larger than the house which was two stories tall and was quite muscular under all that thick fur. He had a broad kind face with soft yet fierce eyes with its head probably being the most bear like of all though it did have small well small for the beast, it had tusks protruding from its mouth. It's fur was mostly a Snow White and blended quite nicely in with the environment and had some icy blue stripes on its sides that almost looked like claw marks. These stripes that stretched from its under belly to his ribs almost seemed to glow slightly with bioluminescent light. He of course had the normal poof ball of a bear tail. The saddle

'How am I going to get on top of this Bumbleback'

"Hey! Az how am I suppose to get up!"

Hearing her yell while laying in the comfort of the saddle he turned and yelled back with a groan:

"Figure it out!"

In astonishment of his laziness she began trying to figure way up but as she began to think the Beast started to move towards the ruins in the distance.

"Huh.. HUH!"

'I swear!'

In her panic and anger at this unconsiderate piece of.. I'm getting ahead of myself. Dahlia quickly slammed down into the ground willing forth the plants trampolining her up.

She flew up and barely grabbed onto the rim of the saddle and usually she would never be able to pull herself up but after being warped here their physical condition seems to have increased and after defending the house it went up even more so she is easily able to pull herself up into the saddle and dropped into it.

The inside of the saddle was oval shape and massive perhaps the size of a small backyard and most of it was basically a bed instead of the center which could be used for storage or dining or anything else that would require some extra space besides just resting which was all he seems to want to do.

'Of course he's sleeping, well atleast we don't have to walk but how long is he going to be able to keep this thing up.'

She went to the boy laying on the other side of the saddle.

He layed there peacefully with his now medium length pitch black hair reaching halfway down his neck when it once was short. In fact both their hair had grown quite a bit but his seemed to grow faster than most.

'I wish my hair grew that fast.'

She had recently started to grow her hair out before this and now her brunette hair was reaching the beginning of her back.

'I wonder what he is? I never really asked, he's like a light brown I wonder if he's Mexican? No maybe middle eastern? A mix? Eh it's not really important I should just focus on keeping… huh what should I call him.'

She put her hand on his shoulder and sat next to him and flowed her energy to his in order to keep the beast sustained.

'Huh not as much as I thought? It's probably from a couple of dreams if it uses this little. Hmm a good name..'

Squeezing his shoulder and waking him up.

"Hey Az what should we call this guy."

Waking up groggily Azadi responded with little fervor.

"He has a name it's Boris."

He yawned before heading back to sleep.

'Boris?"

She let him a small chuckle at the name before going back to being a lookout and making sure nothing attacked them.

A few hours passes perhaps three? No maybe four hours have passed but that was irrelevant because in the sky she spotted something.

It was a black speck in the sky though it could have been a bird but it only took a few minutes for her to realize it was far too large for it to just be an ordinary bird.

'What do I do!'

As each moment she spent panicking instead of action the terror of the sky loomed closer.
