The second my boots hit the marble floors of the mansion—
Boom.
Worried faces. Rushing footsteps. The Grand Duchess—aka my mother—stormed toward me, Lora trailing right behind her. Maids scattered like startled pigeons, and Mina hovered anxiously behind them.
Then, wham!
The grand duchess grabbed my hand, flipping it, twisting it, and scanning me up and down, front and back, like I was some lost child she just found on the streets.
"Sweetie, are you injured? Are you hurt?" she asked, her voice dripping with worry.
"What do you mean?" I blinked.
Lora looked just as concerned. "We heard a demonic beast attacked you in the royal library," she said, and continued, "Since then we were all worried about you."
Whoa...
That's insane. Does news always travel this fast?
"I'm fine," I waved it off. "The Crown Prince and Sir Magic Tower Master were there. They protected me. So, I was almost safe from being eaten alive."
