The Eyes in the Dark

We reached the former Baroness Evelyn's house. And…

The place looked dead.

Not just old or abandoned—dead. Like something had sucked the life out of it and left only bones behind. The air felt thick, pressing down on me, making it hard to breathe. I fought the urge to rub my arms, but Nyx wasn't as composed. The little furball bristled in my arms, ears twitching like he was listening to something I couldn't hear.

I whispered, "What's wrong?"

His sharp gaze darted around before he muttered, "Something is wrong, Master."

I furrowed my brow in confusion. But I didn't ask.

Because I didn't understand what he felt, but if Nyx said something was off, then something was damn well off. A divine beast doesn't just throw around warnings for fun. He is sensing something around here.

I sighed, already feeling the headache forming.
