Episode 8

Deborah's POV

I yawned for the tenth time as I stretched my bones , checking my wrist watch , I gasp at the time . Wow , I spent four hours in a place reading without taking a break . I looked to my left to see my neighbor snoring softly on the book she was reading . A low chuckle escape me as I sighed and tapped her . It wasn't her fault. I just get lost , oblivious to my environment whenever I pick up a book .

"Priscilla.." I called, tapping her lightly on the back. A sleepy moan came out of her as she stirred and sat up .

"Uhm .." she yawned while rubbing her eyes . I mentally rolled my eyes , she was the one forcing us to go to the library when I could have used a couple of hours to get the sleep I didn't get last night .

"Let's go before the library gets locked."

"Uh - huh ." We stood up and left .

Few minutes and it would be dinner ,we strode towards the caf , no need to go back to our dorm . As we entered the caf , I scanned the building not surprised at the less chatter and noise of the usual cafeteria. Most students would skip dinner today because of the bonfire.

"Uhm Debby ,let's eat quickly and get ready for the event ." My everly party neighbor urged . I guess the sleep has finally left her now ,so she can think with her senses. I huffed a breath through my nose at the thought of ' whatever ' that would be happening later tonight .

Hurriedly finishing our food ,we left the caf and head for our dorm .

"Uhm ,I need to use the bathroom." I said to my neighbor as I grabbed my toiletries. I didn't bath in the morning,so I've got to have a full bath .

I sat stiffly on my bed as Priscilla did the magic she knew how to on my hair . I huffed occasionally whenever she pulls a strand .

"Now be a good girl and stop huffing ." She said with a narrowed eyes as she put her right hand on her waist.

"It's just an ordinary bonfire cilia ,you don't need to do all this decorations you are doing ." I tried to make her understand my point . But no , she didn't. Ignoring me , she went back to performing her magic .

"Here ,all set ." Priscilla stood back with a smile. I narrowed my eyes on her as I stood up and went to the mirror I hung on the wall . I almost gasp at the image I saw . Wow ! , I couldn't recognize myself.

"You see ..." Priscilla said from behind . She was full of smile at her handwork .

"Thank you ." I whispered with a smile as I touched it . I won't lie , it's was truly magical .

"Well .." my neighbor cleared her throat . I turned around and starred at her ,"go and change so we can get going ."

Yes ,that's true if you don't want to bring attention to yourself. She left the room to get herself ready . Some minutes later ,we stood outside our door heading towards the location .

As we entered the orchard located at the left far side behind the boys dorm ,we could hear the blaring sound of music . Some students were sitting on some branches of different trees drinking ,while some chatting idly with their friends . Priscilla and I found a small clearing at the foot an orange tree not far from where the fire crackled and not too close . We sat on one of the root pecking up .

Nervousness quietly made it way inside me. This was my first time attending the resumption bonfire . Literally,I would end up in the library reading or watching movies ,then attend the closing hour to mark attendance before bolting out to my dorm . But when it comes to the ending of the semester bonfire , that I can attend fully because I get to join the school music band and also there would be teachers for that .

I exhaled and closed my eyes ,relaxing my head on the bark of the tree . The sudden shouts and cheering made me snap my eyes open . I furrowed my brows annoyingly before my eyes landed on the DEED group as they strode quietly towards their usual spot .

What's so special about them ,I rolled my eyes and scoff .

"Alright, ladies and gentlemen.." the one named Elias said as he stood at the center of the gathering. Some of the girls openly ogled him as they recked him from hair to toe . I clicked my tongue in distaste as I returned my eyes back to him . Yeah sure , he's handsome but I wouldn't let my eyes stray firm his face . I can't fall for guys like him ,I shook my head mentally. They are dangerous.

" From the bottom of my heart I welcome you all to tonight's event . You are all welcome ,the new and old alike . Make merry and enjoy yourselves." The cheering resumed as he stepped back . Those in charge of playing the music , increased it to the highest volume as girls and boys squeaked and dance to the rhythm .

" Hey Debby .." I was surprisingly pulled up towards the crowd by my friend. " Let's dance ." She shouted over the noise as we wave through the crowd of students dancing .

Jeez , I gapped at her . Was she serious. I rubbed my temple and blew air from my mouth . I guess,I can't refuse nor escape .

"Hey , Deborah," she called loudly over the music as we face each other . I saw a flash of concern crossed her features," I noticed you were seated over there like a statue, lost in a daydream,so I thought I ought to shake you up a little." She smiled at the end of the sentence. I returned the smile too as we began to follow the rythm.
