[Chapter 27]
(GARNETT POV)
I was just about to leave the restaurant when I immediately spotted George waiting for me from a short distance. We smiled at each other, and I walked over to him.
"Have you been waiting long?" I asked.
"No, I just got here," he replied.
"So, what now? Where are we going?" I asked with a smile.
"Hmm, how about the park? We can eat some random snacks there," he said, laughing.
I just laughed and nodded, and then we started walking away. As we walked, it got a little quiet. I looked at him and took a deep breath.
"How’s your mom doing?"
I saw him swallow hard.
"I'll admit, her condition is getting worse. But I haven't lost hope."
His face looked sad, and I felt sad too.
"Don’t worry, I’ll include your mom in my prayers. She’ll get better, just trust me."
He looked at me and gave me a small smile. When we got to the park, he immediately bought some snacks, and we sat down on a bench under a tree.
