Chapter 53: The Letter

Asmodeos read the letter in his hand. He had never expected that Peter would run off.

But, Asmodeos thought, was he really supposed to wait for three whole days to find his lover? And if Peter just took to the forest and refused to come back, then what was going to happen?

"Oh, Peter, you're going to be the death of me," Asmodeos said, as he began to pack the campsite. Peter, it seemed, had only taken the clothes on his back, the monk's stuff, and his slimes.

Asmodeos packed up everything else—the sleeping sacks, two of them, because Asmodeos didn't feel safe in Peter's arms at night anymore.

He went about his task with the gusto of someone who was rethinking his life.
