She scoffed at his words. "So what, curiosity got the better of you?" she spoke, her voice carrying a hint of irritation.
"It's not so much about curiosity, it's more about understanding. Many people are doing what they believe is best, but if I'm not informed about what those things are, I won't be able to help anyone—even if I want to."
Midnight raised an eyebrow. "So what, if I tell you the reason I am here, you will help me?"
Zaroth's lips curled into a warm, friendly smile. "Maybe. It all depends on what it is you're after."
She scoffed, crossing her arms. "You should've just said you'd help me, if you wanted me to tell you."
He grimaced. "Look, I'm not going to lie. There's always a chance your goals might clash with mine, and if that happens, we could end up as enemies. I don't want that to happen, so telling me why you're here could help."
She turned off the light in the room, making it pitch black.
