Chapter 38: Fun In Knockturn Alley
The small battle in Knockturn Alley did not catch the attention of many wizards. Some wizards knew the outcome just by seeing Martin's face. In Knockturn Alley, if you dare to mess with the Black family, it is more serious than risking your life. Most dark wizards understand that if you cause trouble there, the Ministry of Magic will not care about you, but the Black family wizard team will chase you to the ends of the earth.
Before Draco and Harry could examine the body, several wizards in black robes with gold thread suddenly appeared, and one of them immediately covered the body with a shroud. The remaining wizards used clean water spells to wash the floor and remove traces of magic to avoid future trouble. Their operation was efficient, clearly showing their experience.
"Master, miss, leave the rest to us," said Richie, the captain of the Knockturn Alley wizard team. Richie, a senior wizard, was as powerful as Lightjohn and as well-respected in Knockturn Alley as John was.
"Please, Uncle Rich, don't tell father," Martin requested. He didn't want Cole to know what happened. Little did he know that these wizards would eventually report everything due to their unquestionable loyalty, even though Cole often turned a blind eye to certain matters.
Martin approached Draco and Harry, who were grinning, and asked with a smile, "What's wrong? Are you scared?"
"How is that possible? Martin, don't look down on me. I won't be frightened by such a small scene. I am a member of the Malfoy family." Not wanting to be underestimated, Draco forced himself to forget the earlier scene.
Martin observed Harry and noticed that this child from the Muggle world displayed courage, showing no fear in his eyes. Not wanting to leave a bad impression in front of his new friends, Martin continued, "Harry, there are bad people in the Muggle world, just like some wizards with bad intentions. You have to be careful in the future, but Hogwarts is still very safe." Harry nodded obediently, having already developed the ability to discern certain situations.
"Yes, Martin, but don't you need to call the police when something like this happens?" Harry asked.
Draco looked at Harry, confused. "What are the police? Aurors in the Muggle world?" he wondered. Smiling disdainfully, he added, "This didn't happen in front of the Aurors. They don't bother with things like this, especially since we didn't use those particular spells."
Draco implied that in the wizarding world, as long as the Unforgivable Curses weren't used in front of Aurors, the Ministry of Magic would not concern itself with the situation. Although he knew the power of the three Unforgivable Curses, Draco had not yet been exposed to such powerful spells at his young age. Little did he know, Martin and the others around him had experience with more powerful Unforgivable Curses.
"Harry, you don't understand the wizarding world now, but you'll learn in time," Martin remarked without further explanation, then guided Draco and Harry through Knockturn Alley. Knockturn Alley, though dark, was no less prosperous than Diagon Alley, often busier, but dark wizards came and went quickly, wary of being targeted. Many Knockturn Alley shops weren't suitable for Draco and Harry to enter, so Martin stood outside, introducing them to the area instead.
Martin pointed to a shop in the middle of the street and deliberately teased Draco. "Draco, what do you think that store sells?" Draco had long been aware of Martin's mischievous side. Just now, Martin had taken him into a store, falsely claiming it sold magical animals and also took orders for dragons.
Draco was so excited that he rushed in. As soon as he entered, he saw an opal-eyed dragon's head hanging on the wall. The cabinets were filled with dragon eyes, dragon hearts, and dragon skins. Draco didn't realize it at first and thought he had entered a slaughterhouse. He had expected to see a live dragon and turned to Martin with disappointed eyes. In the end, Martin bought dragon leather gloves to make amends. Of course, Harry also gave him a pair, and Harry was so grateful he almost burst into tears, saying no one had ever given him a gift.
Draco curled his lips and teased, "Martin, who doesn't know that your family owns the most stores in Knockturn Alley? This is one of your stores again, and you still want to play tricks on me." Martin replied, "Why would I kid you? In fact, that store sells broomsticks. They have the latest products from major broom companies, including Seven Stars."
Hearing this, Draco became interested and took Harry directly inside. The doorbell rang, and the wizard inside looked at the visitors fiercely. Seeing the two children, he was confused until he noticed Martin, Jerome, and several other members of the Black family behind them. He finally put away his fierce gaze and forced a smile, though it was a bit scary. "Bring out the newest brooms," Martin greeted him. Draco's eyes were dazzled by the brooms from various major companies on the table, and he introduced them to Harry excitedly.
Surprisingly, Harry was also interested in this broom that could take wizards to new heights. While they were chatting, the two little girls, Darlene and Alice, grew impatient and left to play in their own little paradise. Eventually, Martin reminded them of the time, and Draco was horrified to find he had gotten carried away. Seeing Draco's expression, Martin couldn't stop laughing. Draco looked like a mouse to a cat to Uncle Lucius.
It was only after Martin promised to explain the situation to Draco that Draco dared to go back. Unexpectedly, as soon as they went out, they saw Cole and Lucius standing on the street. Seeing Lucius's eyes, Draco felt as though he wanted to wet his pants. "Come here, Draco, you don't look like the Malfoy family at all. If Martin and the others weren't here today, do you know you could have gotten yourself into serious trouble," Lucius scolded.
Draco walked tremblingly in front of Lucius and lowered his head. "I'm sorry, father." Lucius ignored him, turned around, and his face changed as he looked at Martin with a smile. "Martin, you are indeed the pride of the Black family. You are so powerful at a young age. Cole, you have raised a good son." Cole thought to himself, "Looking at you, someone who didn't know better might think he was your son."
"Okay, Lucius, it's just a small matter. Don't blame Draco. He is also very good," Cole reassured. After hearing Cole's praise, Draco raised his head and looked at Uncle Cole's face, wishing Uncle Cole were his father. Meanwhile, Lucius looked at Martin, thinking how great it would be if Martin were his son. If Cole knew what Lucius was thinking, he'd simply say, "You're thinking nonsense."
In this manner, Malfoy and his son were brought back to Diagon Alley by Cole. As for Harry, neither Cole nor Lucius said much.
