Chapter 38: Shade Bound Stalkers

Rose was mesmerized by the sight before her. I'm just joking. It smelled like goat shit in there.

Seriously, did this place ever get cleaned? It was so dark and dusty that her nose itched, and before she could stop it, she let out a loud sneeze.

"Ugh, disgusting!" she muttered, wiping her nose. Was this how ancient knowledge was preserved? With a layer of grime as thick as the stories?

She tried to push through it, clutching a fire lamp in her right hand, its flame as dim as her hope for a clean environment.

The one at her left side was lit, but she couldn't be bothered to walk all the way back to swap them.

It wasn't like they had an unlimited supply of firewood in this hellhole, right?

She frowned at the lamp in her hand, before lazily shifting it to the left. There. At least now she wouldn't be fumbling in the dark like a blind bat.

As she walked deeper into the musty hall, she started to feel more and more lost.
