Around a round wooden table with juices, water, and alcohol sat four established people and one innocent child.
"To start out, Elijah is here because I have let him in on some of my theories, and because I like him, he will join us in this conversation." Amaris spoke the first words.
To Elijah, these people seemed like the people who had also come from Gion, but just in case this was not true, no words related to that matter were spoken.
"Mikhail, Elijah, you don't know the details of the success I was raving about a few days ago." Amaris began the explanation of how the beast used a never seen before magic by starting with the plan of how Landon Ruby found a cave that took him to the outer regions that allowed him to hit the beast with a surprise attack. "What I think is the reason for these mystery beasts that use a horrid kind of magic is that they originate from The Catacombs. In the deepest possible part of The Catacombs. I know all of you are aware of whatever is beneath the whirlpool to some degree, and whatever magic that beast was using relates to…" Amaris paused.
"Honestly, we need a name for that thing!"
Elijah let loose a little chuckle, but also chimed in on the first thing that came to mind. "The Void."
"I like the sound of that, and why don't we calm this mystery magic, void magic. Void relates to nothingness, and quite frankly that magic reduces anything it touches to nothing. It was only killed because of superb timing and luck." Amaris received looks and voices of approval, and everyone took a drink, even Elijah albeit from his glass of lightly salted water.
"The Void likely created that beast, and most definitely has more than just the few that are roaming the outskirts of the outer region. Now, Elijah this one's for you. Why do you think these powerful beasts haven't invaded the inner city yet?"
Amaris' question was an obvious one that Elijah surprisingly hadn't asked himself after his first encounter. From his own knowledge, magical runes of metal and gravity fortified the tunnel gates even further than the still metal it is created from, but these beasts would still be able to break through. "For some reason they can't or won't. Maybe they want to keep the people alive, or just stop them from retaking the wall?"
"How the fuck does that make sense?! Are they trying to keep us alive?!" Mikhail was partly furious with Elijah's response as he was a kid, but also felt a sense of agreement in Amaris that stopped him from fully letting loose. Denial.
"Calm down Mikhail, I think you may have had a few too many drinks. The only thing we can do is prepare for the worst, while understanding their motives to put an end to this. I was born within the outer region, and I want it back." Amaris gave a cue to Elijah to make sure no unnecessary words fell out of his mouth.
"So what do you think The Kingdom should do?" Leah spoke for the first time as she was observing and keeping her cool. Meanwhile, Landon knew everything Amaris was talking about, and smiled when they came up with the name, The Void.
"Simple, I think we should play the same game they are playing, and halt going into the outer regions while focusing on The Catacombs. If all the powerful mages began to scour the Catacombs for exits, we could slowly build up advantages which would be our exit points, maybe even beyond the wall."
Landon softly set his drink on the wooden table. "I agree with you Amaris, and I know who you are, so please be careful when taking this to the council. I have a strong suspicion they know more than us, and they might even have their reasons to keep us fighting to our deaths…"
"Unfortunately I suspect that too. I wasn't gonna say this in front of you Elijah, but I suspect the council is hiding many things, and even more so the King and his two hands… If that is the case, then I will back down and figure something else out. Zion could easily kill me…" Amaris sighed while grabbing his own face with his hand.
The meeting was adjourned, and Elijah left in the same covered carriage that seemed to have been waiting for him the entire time.
Upon returning to the Weltor Estate, Elijah had compiled his thoughts and theories. These horrid void beasts were intentionally not invading the inner city, and only waited until the people of the kingdom tried to take back what was originally theirs. The coming of this kingdom dates back to over six thousand years ago, however, the details of what was here previously were not anywhere to be found in the history books which makes Elijah think the crater that provided life was created right before the kingdom came to be. Since The Void inhabits the crater, maybe The Void itself is the 'meteor' that metaphorically came to this planet. Aliens, gods, or something else? Elijah's emotions were not exactly high even when he won his two matches. His hopes of being on the frontlines, or more so the kingdom returning to its prosperous times were waning. The streets looked dull through the eyes of Elijah, and the only thing that gave him excitement was The Catacombs, the tournament, Amaris, and his friends. Even his father resented him…
"Woah! There he is!" Elijah walked through the blue wooden double-door to Julia's voice, who had a water affinity, but didn't use it for combat mage related actions. The life of a combat mage isn't for everyone.
Currently within the Weltor Estate, Dinner is being prepared. After some quick chats and receiving congratulating remarks from everyone, Elijah went to his room. Sleep wasn't something he needed right now even when he was tired, but instead decided to organize his spatial storage as he needed to get his mind away from thinking. After only a few minutes of organizing, the orange core to the gorgon sat at the very back, while his sword and knife laid in the very front in a place easy to grab. Two liters of water stood in the middle, and were necessary in case Elijah was either out of water, or simply did not want to walk downstairs to refill. Once reaching the dark orange core stage, the space would become much bigger, and may even be able to take a specific shape instead of the cylinder shape created when opening the portal.
'I wonder what would happen if I went inside my own spatial space…'
Even with the morning coming around, not a speck of sun was making its way into the window. This place was distant from nature, and Elijah couldn't necessarily feel the effects, but knew there were drawbacks that were not noticeable, yet…
Cracks and grunting noises came from Elijah's body as he first started with full body dynamic and static stretching, then went to slow and controlled bodyweight exercises. Elijah was an absolute beast for his age, and could knock out eighty pushups without stopping. His muscles were clearly defined, but he also wasn't extremely lean as there would be drawbacks to that. With a visual estimation, he had a ten to fourteen body fat percentage at five feet and two inches tall.
