Standing across a simplistic wooden countertop that received the sun through an open skylight, Lukas smiled at his wife with a face of love.
"So Lukas… how do you feel about the world now?" Camila asked while she adjusted her scrunched linen button down shirt.
Lukas took a sip of his freshly squeezed orange juice after swallowing a raw egg yolk. "I think too much has happened in a short period of time…"
Bang!
Lukas' glass cup hit the wooden table as he stared into the white sand ocean. "I think… that the world needs more time to adjust. I just hope that everyone learns to adapt this ideology — for it is what is best for everyone."
Slowly, Camila made her way around the table and took Lukas in her arms. "Don't you think that true peace will never exist?"
A sigh came from his mouth that was blown into the side of Camila's head. Shortly after, Lukas let himself go from the hug and led Camila outside to the patio — which looked directly into the endless ocean.
"Camila, what is best for the people of this world is that they of course have their own free will, the choice to do what they want. But… that doesn't mean the people at the top, who have secured and stabilized themselves, can't share their wisdom and suggest it to the people of the world…"
"I know… fast food restaurants are now going out of business, the parent companies that have hoarded the processed food companies and the companies who made the specific chemicals and preservatives that go into these foods are also going out of business. Millions of jobs are being lost…"
"But in place of those, are jobs that will contribute to the health and wealth of the world…"
"After all, we wouldn't be in this situation if the people before us chose to do things the right way, instead of preying on the people's cognitive dissonance and moldable beliefs…"
While Lukas was absolutely right about what he had said, there was this strong inkling inside of Camila that told her there was a better way. Or to just accept the flaws as part of what makes us, us.
People have already begun to die, and now more will follow as the entire world is shifted from a place of convenience, to a world that forces everyone to put in work.
It was not just the health principles the world follows that received an overhaul, but also the entire world's government system — creating a new age where true peace would eventually exist.
However, what is after true peace? What would the world's goal be after it had obtained such peace?
Moments before Elijah had hit the floor, he had gone through many of his favorite and not so favorite memories — reminding him of the life he had lived in the past, and the motivation he needed to push forward in the present.
Deep within his soul was an urge to do it better, to solve this mystery that lay within the depths of this planet.
The Void…
While the cold wind continued to flutter his garments that had now been fully dried, Elijah's eyes slowly opened, revealing a night sky full of vibrant stars and an intense white energy dragging itself in the wake of Elijah's body.
Immediately, a tingling sensation was felt within his body while noticing a translucent and pearlescent rimmed portal opening and closing in front of his right ankle.
A sensation of mana that overflowed into his body was currently hitting him, causing small body pains to randomly appear all over his body. Sharp and sporadic lights were even rolling off his skin.
Then he gained clarity of his situation…
Elijah began to slow his body in mid air, and came to a complete stop just before his head hit a thick pile of mud. Then, as soon as his hair touched the floor, everything below disappeared without a trace.
BOOM!
Where there was originally a grouping of 50-foot tall trees, large boulders, and muddy dirt floor, now lived absolutely nothing. The fabric of space was literally ripped into a random and rough shape, and filled itself back in within a single millisecond.
An ungodly amount of strength was released, and also forced a feeling of euphoria through every cell of Elijah's body.
The best orgasm one could ever have…
However, it was seized by his fall into a deep pit. Then further soiled by the many tree trunks that found its way into the center of the erratic pit.
In the near distance, a voice of a young male continued to resound in his direction. His figure hoppe from one trunk to the next, slowly making his way to Elijah's body.
"Hey! What did you just do!"
"…"
"Hello! I know you are alive! Either your eyes are open, or you have lost your soul!"
Many tree trunks and branches were severed by a red hot sword that the man had been carrying. The man returned Elijah to the stable ground with shoes that seemed to walk on the very air itself.
The soft touch of a well-built body comforted him, and even stayed with him while being laid down on the soft dirt floor.
Elijah did not bother to respond to the black hair and blue-eyed man who was waving his hand over his eyes. All he wanted to do was sleep, and did just that…
…
"Elijah! Elijah!"
A familiar voice repeatedly resounded into his ears. The voice of a female he desperately hoped to see again.
Elijah slowly opened his eyes, and was surprised by the sight before him. "Wha— Niko? You, are alive?"
"Of course I am! Did you really think I would die at the hands of a traitor?"
All around him were soft beds separated by light blue patterned curtains that currently stood open for everyone to see. The light of the sun tore through the sectioned glass of a slanted ceiling window.
"Where am I?" Elijah calmly picked himself into his bum, now sitting within the soft bed covered by a blanket.
Niko cleared his parched throat. "This is a medical center. It's been three days since you were found within the forest behind the barracks. They carried you here without knowing what happened to you."
Saskia quickly cut it, desperate to speak with Elijah. "Also! They said nothing was wrong with you, and were only confused as to why you had been asleep for so long… But now that you are awake, you can leave free of charge. The Education Guild has already paid for your treatment."
"I need some time by myself."
Elijah said words of simplicity and mysteriously, and casually walked outside whilst wearing simple white garments that flowed easily in the wind of the kingdom. His words also caused Niko to hold Saskia back, as he knew Elijah was no simple man.
It was obvious he was in Sefrah. White and blue buildings stacked the streets full of life while many pergolas made of an assortment of colors allowed any passerby to know what was a market, restaurant, or service. Each business name was neatly woven into the front of the pigmented roof coverings. Atop some of the three story buildings were couples and families on their balconies — looking out into the life of the city they so adore.
Life was simple here…
To make anything of yourself, all you had to do was act on whatever it is you wanted, become good enough to separate yourself from most, and either make your own business, or join an existing one.
Whether it be teaching, blacksmithing, cooking, maid service, massages, buying and selling, and even hunting beasts… Anything was a viable option.
This long walk Elijah had willingly acted on allowed him to clear his mind, making room for his objectives.
Thinking about what he had almost done deeply agonized him, and because of this worry, he chose to avoid reminiscing about it — immediately shifting his thought patterns to his current suspicions.
'If the war is meaningless because of the beast problem, then the motive must have been greater than the simple territory, animosity, and glory trope. The Void is the most substantial threat this entire world has, and likely has servants all over the world. To think the war has nothing to do with The Void is idiotic… Who knows, maybe the Eternal Twin really is the king, and his twin is on the other side of the world ruling a copycat kingdom. It would only make sense if the War of the God's truly did pierce a hole through the entire earth…'
Elijah suddenly batted his eyes towards a family buying a basket of fruit and two loaves of bread. The father gently held the hand of his daughter, and suddenly looked behind him at Elijah.
Their stare was gentle, more so soothing and inspiring.
'Hmm… I guess I should address that problem I vaguely remember. I can't recall if there was a wall, or if large amounts of mana were somehow floating on the edge of the atmosphere. Either way, it doesn't matter. Nothing up where would matter if they haven't made it down here since the War of the God's…'
Giving up was never an option Lukas entertained, and with this new life he received, the last thing he wanted to do was to turn into someone he is not.
Someone who would even have the thought of giving up floating aimlessly in their mind…
The academy gave him great hope that he would be able to improve his combat skills, and maybe even knock some heads.
