fallen with the snow

Y/n's POV

Everything seemed to move in slow motion. I held back a bit in confusion.

But I saw…

I could see the fight had suddenly come to a standstill with Kakucho attempting to convince Izana that Tenjiku had lost when suddenly shots were fired out of nowhere.

"NO!"

Izana's POV

I forgot so much of myself. The least I could do is protect the only person who cares about me.

He heard her before he saw her, thinking it had to be his imagination.

Everyone has their limits. It's wishful thinking that she would be here. Especially that she would be here for me.

He was surprised when he felt her at his side, pulling his head into her lap. His eyes widened, and tears filled with anguish and regret ran down his face. She cupped his cheeks, gently rubbing circles on one side with her thumb as she tried comfort him.

"You're not beyond saving! No one is! So don't you dare go! Just stay with me, okay? Please?"

As he gazed up at her, he felt such peace wash over him.

What an odd woman…

Izana's eyes focused on her worried features for a moment before smiling softly.

This is the most love I have ever received. After everything I did to her and her friends, she's crying over me. I hope…. we meet again in another life. If we do, I swear….. I'm going to show her…. how much…. I love…

Kakucho's POV

I had heard the scream before I saw her. Her scream echoed my shattered heart as I watched Izana lay on the ground as a still corpse. I knew he wouldn't last long and moved beside him as my last act as his servant.

He knew his king had passed on when he saw her suddenly still. She started speaking regardless.

"Zana, don't go. Come back, okay? Mikey would still be your family, I promise. He doesn't hate you. I don't hate you either, so come back, okay? Please come back?"

Seeing her sob over my king, my friend, my only family, I understood now that there were many misunderstandings involving her, all of which had been cleared seeing her here for him and still showing him care.

Care my king deserves.

I watched her cry, letting my tears fall on Izana's lifeless form as well, when I suddenly felt her hand grip both my and Izana's hands. Through my fresh tears, I could see her staring at me through her own tears with such compassion and understanding, I couldn't help but smile sadly even for a moment through the pain.

"You really are so beautiful like he said." He whispered as snow began falling around them. He remembered when he and Izana were kids and they played in the snow.

Izana….let's go back and build another snow castle together. We'll make a castle and wait for your queen.
