75: Careful Consideration - Part 1

Elias couldn't shake the feeling that the Viscount wasn't finished. A cornered man was the most dangerous, and the Viscount looked very much like a man on the edge.

Deciding he needed to be ready for anything, Elias quietly made his way toward Lady Selene, who was engaged in a lighthearted conversation with a group of nobles. When she caught sight of him, her eyes sparkled with amusement.

"Priest Elias," she said with a sly smile. "I was beginning to think you'd slipped away to avoid the festivities entirely."

"I'm not much of a dancer," Elias replied, keeping his voice low. "But I've been keeping an eye on things."

Her smile faded slightly as she caught the serious tone in his words. "You've noticed something, haven't you?"

"Noticed, yes. Confirmed, not yet," Elias said. "The Viscount is up to something. I think he's waiting for news from someone—maybe the rebels I dealt with earlier."
