The people from the Ping Luan Palace had barely left when a few unknown individuals appeared on the heels of their departure. Yi Bai's understanding of the current situation deepened.
The collapse of order doesn't happen overnight. While the shock of the Horror Game might be the primary cause, those with insatiable ambition have played a significant role in this breakdown.
Yi Bai detested those driven by greed. Compared to them, he preferred a quiet, peaceful life. What was the point of fighting for power and control? In the end, they'd only end up dragged into the Horror Game, facing an uncertain future.
If it were up to him, Yi Bai would rather be with Lina—whether in the Horror World or the human realm, being together would be far more pleasant.
However, as that thought crossed his mind, the image of Count Rose and a vague, small figure flashed in his mind.
"Shua!"
Yi Bai suddenly snapped back to reality, cold sweat beading on his forehead.
"How could I have such a terrifying thought?! That's Count Rose... The Bloody Ghost!"
He felt his head spin, his mind racing. He was a pure, innocent, handsome young man, so how could such strange thoughts even cross his mind?
Hmm... ever since he became a Necromancer Knight, Yi Bai's essence, the core of "Yi Bai the Bro," seemed to have fully awakened.
After winding through a few buildings, Yi Bai walked towards a bus stop. There was no one at the station. The streets were quiet, and traffic was sparse.
In the era of the Horror Game, everyone lived in constant fear, rarely venturing out unless necessary. It seemed the only place one could feel somewhat safe was within the confines of their own home.
"Brother, in such a hurry to leave? Why don't you stop for a moment and hear us out?"
A low voice suddenly came from behind Yi Bai. Several figures quickly caught up, with the man at the front wearing sunglasses and a trench coat, his arm holding a blade pointed directly at Yi Bai's back.
Yi Bai, aware of their presence thanks to his bloodline perception, felt his pupils contract. The crimson light within him surged!
But just as quickly, with a decision made in his mind, the unnatural color in his eyes faded, replaced by calm.
"You want to recruit me? Does that mean you're speaking on behalf of your so-called leader?" Yi Bai asked, blunt and direct.
His calm response startled the men behind him. They were used to intimidating their targets, but this was the first time someone had responded to a threat so calmly.
The man holding the knife pressed it even harder into Yi Bai's back, lowering his voice. "Exactly. I hope you'll cooperate. Otherwise…" He didn't need to finish the sentence. The blade came even closer, the threat evident in his actions.
Yi Bai smiled faintly, his lips curving into a chilling grin. "Alright, since you're so sincere, how could I refuse such an invitation?"
Unseen by the others, he was wearing an oddly shaped necklace, hidden beneath his collar.
"Good! I'm sure the boss will like someone who knows how to seize opportunities!" The knife-wielding man nodded in satisfaction and waved his hand.
Moments later, a black, old car appeared, and Yi Bai was shoved into the backseat, his eyes covered with a blindfold.
The car rumbled down the road, leaving the city behind. After nearly an hour of driving, the vehicle screeched to a halt in front of a secluded lumberyard, far from the nearest town.
Although Yi Bai's eyes were covered, his bloodline perception told him that at least thirty pairs of eyes were watching him from outside the car.
"Get out." A voice, distorted like a voice changer, came from nearby.
This time, they didn't hold the knife to his back. Perhaps they believed the situation was under control, or perhaps for another reason.
Yi Bai wasn't fooled—he understood that the reason wasn't that they had relaxed their guard, but because just up ahead, a lucky individual wielding Ghostly Power was waiting.
With such a person in control, what else was there to fear?
"Would it be alright if I remove my blindfold?" Yi Bai asked politely, his voice calm as ever.
"Of course, it's your choice." The voice responded.
Yi Bai removed the blindfold and immediately activated his Insightful Eyes.
[Leader of the Trash Organization: Jiang Junhao]
[Race: Human]
[Friendly Status: Neutral (He wants to control and make you his subordinate)]
[Power: Wandering Soul (His strength does not match his ambition)]
[Likes: Power, Women, Money... (His insatiable desires are his undoing)]
[Weakness: A garbage man full of weaknesses]
[Current Status: Take the Ghost Coins from this kid, make him bow down, and seize more for myself (This weakling is nothing, just kill him)]
The information that flashed before Yi Bai's eyes made him feel relieved. While he was somewhat unlucky, it wasn't the worst. At least he wasn't being targeted by some super-powered individual hiding behind a major organization.
Yi Bai relaxed, glancing around. The lumberyard was exactly the kind of hidden place he needed.
"So, is this all your organization has to offer?" Yi Bai asked, his tone sharp and cutting.
"Not for long. With me here, we'll grow even stronger." The voice was filled with smug confidence.
"Present your task rewards. Based on your contribution, I'll consider assigning you a proper rank and status. This is the procedure every newcomer must go through."
"Don't refuse, or your end will be painful…"
The voice's underlying greed and unrestrained threat were unmistakable. The men around Jiang Junhao stared at Yi Bai with similar expressions, their eyes full of menace.
Clearly, they had transitioned from victims to the new predators.
Yi Bai lowered his head in apparent despair, his hands trembling slightly. His body seemed to quiver as if under great pressure.
Under his mask, no one saw the twisted smile that spread across his face.
His eyes, now pitch black, flared into a deep crimson.
"My throat's a little dry…" Yi Bai sighed, his voice low.
Suddenly, he looked up!
His scarlet eyes seemed to burn with an eerie light—terrifying beyond measure!
The men who met his gaze froze, as if locked in the stare of a monstrous predator hunting them.
Though they were all human, Yi Bai gave them an unmistakable sense of dread, as if they were staring at their natural enemy.
"I knew this day would come eventually…" Yi Bai muttered.
"But… why did you have to make me rush it?"
"Humans and ghosts aren't so different, are they? Ghosts eat people… and so do you."
"But today, let's change things around. It's time for… me to devour you all."
