When Yi Bai first arrived, he was driving an old, battered car that had seen better days.
But when he left, he was behind the wheel of a powerful, imposing pickup truck.
Even Yi Bai couldn't help but marvel—money really is everything.
In both the world of the horror game and the human world, the pickup truck, with its roaring engine, felt like a dream compared to the old car.
Before long, he parked at a discreet spot a little distance away from the lumberyard.
With a quiet thought, a mirror materialized in Yi Bai's hand.
It was the "symbol" of his contract with Sheer, the key to activating Sheer's abilities.
Unlike the complete transformation of the vampire race, where power could be accessed without any external tools, the "chosen ones" of the human world didn't typically have such an advantage.
Well… the deceased leader of the trash organization who Yi Bai had killed might be an exception. His body was partially possessed by a monster, yet he survived without succumbing to the backlash.
He had a bit of luck, but it wasn't quite enough.
He had the fate of a chosen one, but not the fortune that came with it...
Yi Bai casually tossed the small mirror into the air, and as it spun, it grew, becoming a mirror larger than his own height. Yi Bai took a step forward.
The surface of the mirror rippled like water, and his reflection seemed to merge with the shimmering surface.
Moments later, inside the third-floor bedroom of the lumberyard, a dusty mirror revealed Yi Bai's face.
It was a bizarre scene, and if any normal person saw it, they would likely flee in panic.
Fortunately, the lumberyard was empty. Even if someone were there, they wouldn't be alive for long.
The small mirror was tossed out from the dusty one, rapidly enlarging into a full-length mirror. Yi Bai's face vanished from the dusty one and appeared in the larger mirror, and he stepped out.
"Ah... there's still a problem, huh? It's not as perfect as I imagined."
Yi Bai muttered, realizing there were flaws in Sheer's abilities when applied to him.
"That can't be helped, big brother." Sheer appeared quietly, pulling at Yi Bai's arm with a slightly innocent look.
"Indeed, I don't have Sheer's ability to change size at will. Hmm… I wonder if the bloodline's power increases with strength, and if I could gain new abilities?" Yi Bai said, feeling a bit helpless.
Within a certain range, Sheer's abilities allowed him to perform a form of instantaneous movement, which was extraordinarily powerful. If the conditions were right, Yi Bai could even achieve legendary feats like golden flashes.
But there was one problem that greatly limited him.
The size of the mirror restricted his movement.
As a being of the mirror world, Sheer could shift between virtual and physical forms, allowing her to adjust her size freely.
Yi Bai, however, could only use sufficiently large mirrors to pass through. Fortunately, thanks to the nature of Sheer's power, he could adjust the size of the mirror to some extent, but it was a minor inconvenience that wasn't too impactful in the human world.
"Don't the vampires have blood magic? Big brother Yi Bai, haven't you learned it?" Sheer asked curiously when she heard him mention vampires.
"Blood magic…" Yi Bai pondered, a hint of doubt flashing in his deep eyes.
In the world of the horror game, there was a widely known fact: every monster possessed an innate ability, often corresponding to its nature. Weaker monsters only had the basic, inherent power of a monster.
Thinking about this, Yi Bai suddenly remembered something.
Count Rose and Jiang Ling had both left spatial "marks" on him.
Could they be monsters with spatial powers?
The chance was small, and considering Rose's blood-red domain, she didn't seem to possess spatial powers.
"Big brother, don't you know?" Sheer asked, sensing Yi Bai's contemplation, her voice sweet and childlike.
Yi Bai slapped his forehead, suddenly realizing, "I've overlooked this—Sheer, as the daughter of the Lady of the Mirror, must know a lot of things that I don't."
"I've only recently awakened, so I don't know much about the vampire's magic. If you know, Sheer, would you mind explaining it to me?"
Asking for knowledge wasn't something to be ashamed of; pretending to understand when you didn't was unwise.
"Ehehe~" Sheer giggled mischievously.
Her big brother didn't know!
Such a golden opportunity—if she didn't take advantage of it and negotiate for some "rewards" now, she'd be a fool!
"The story of the vampires, mama told me a lot," Sheer said, with a gleam in her amber eyes. "But…"
"But what?" Yi Bai asked, playing along.
Sheer's mischievous grin widened, and Yi Bai instantly understood what she was thinking.
"If big brother wants to play a game with me, then Sheer will tell you all about the vampires!" Sheer said eagerly, practically vibrating with excitement at her request.
Yi Bai was momentarily speechless, sensing that this might be a little… dangerous.
His rationality was slipping, but just as things were getting out of hand, a sudden buzzing sound interrupted.
The source of the noise was a small, exquisitely crafted mirror with an eerie, otherworldly aura, which flew out from Sheer's body and began to tremble.
The buzzing sound was coming from it!
Yi Bai opened his mouth to say something, but only one word came out:
"Holy crap!"
