"Portraits of the Undying"
Isabella, a talented fine art restorer, is drawn to a remote castle shrouded in secrets, where her work on ancient paintings unearths forgotten memories from a past life she doesn’t understand. The paintings, particularly one of a regal queen who seems to watch her, ignite a mysterious connection that pulls her deeper into the castle’s dark history.
As Isabella uncovers the truths hidden in the walls of the castle, she encounters Viktor—a brooding, enigmatic man whose gaze hides more than he reveals. But when strange visions begin to blur the line between past and present, Isabella’s reality starts to unravel, revealing the truth about her royal lineage, a tragic love, and a bond that transcends time.
Haunted by whispers and visions, Isabella must navigate her growing feelings for Viktor, the appearance of a rival named Damien, and the mysterious allure of a castle that might just be alive. But the deeper she delves, the more she questions: Who is she really, and why is the castle calling her back to its forgotten depths?
I’m only two chapters in, but I’m already hooked! The premise of Portraits of the Undying is so intriguing, with Isabella, a fine art restorer, unexpectedly finding herself in a town with a vampire past. The mystery surrounding the paintings and the strange connection they seem to have with her is super compelling. I’m really curious to see how that will unfold. Isabella feels like such a relatable character, and her bond with her younger sister, Lily, is sweet and natural. But it’s the encounter with Viktor in the lift that has my attention. There’s definitely something off about him, but in a mysterious, alluring way. I can already feel the tension between them, and I’m excited to see how their relationship develops. The setting of the story is also great—there’s this eerie atmosphere that makes you feel like something is always just around the corner. The mention of the vampire history in the town gives the story this ominous vibe that I love. Plus, the fact that Isabella seems to have a mysterious connection to the paintings makes me really want to know what happened in her past life. I’m also intrigued by the hints at a love triangle—Viktor seems to have something special with Isabella, but I can’t forget about the guy she saw in the auction, who looks like he could be a good friend or something more. All in all, I’m loving the set-up so far and can’t wait to read more! I already feel like there are so many layers to this story that will be revealed as the chapters go on.
