Unleashing Magic

Unleashing Magic

Basil darted to the side as the Steelhide Basilisk's tail smashed into the ground, sending debris flying in all directions. For the first time, he truly felt the challenge of relying solely on magic. His instincts screamed at him to draw his sword or channel his aura, but Nytheria's piercing gaze reminded him of the rules.

The massive beast roared again, its glowing red eyes locking onto him. Before Basil could fully react, the creature swung its tail, striking him hard in the side. The impact sent him flying into a tree with a sickening crack.

Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth as he pushed himself up, pain coursing through his body. Nytheria's mocking voice echoed through the clearing.

"Oh, great son of the Dragon Queen, you're really showing your might now," she teased, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "Special, my tail."

Basil spat blood and glared at her. "Yeah, yeah. Laugh it up," he said, his cocky attitude undeterred. He wiped his mouth and muttered, "Fuck, this is going to be difficult."

He turned his focus back to the Steelhide Basilisk, which was preparing for another attack. I need a plan, he thought. No aura, no sword… but I've got magic. Let's get creative.

Adapting to Magic

Basil closed his eyes for a brief moment, feeling the flow of mana in his core. He decided to combine multiple elements, a risky move for someone inexperienced in magic.

First, he channeled the dark element, wrapping himself in a shroud of shadows. His presence disappeared, confusing the basilisk. Its red eyes scanned the area, searching for him, but the concealment held.

Next, Basil called upon wind magic, enhancing his speed. He felt a rush of power as the air around him propelled his movements, making him almost too fast to follow.

"Alright, big guy," Basil muttered, a smirk forming on his lips. "Let's see how you handle this."

With a burst of speed, he darted toward the creature. The basilisk sensed the disturbance and lashed out with its claws, but Basil was already gone, appearing on its blind side.

He raised his hand, summoning electric magic, and sent a bolt of lightning directly into the creature's side. The crackling energy surged through the beast, causing it to roar in pain.

"Not so tough now, are you?" Basil taunted, his confidence returning.

Gaining Momentum

The Steelhide Basilisk spun around, enraged, its movements erratic. Basil kept up the pressure, using his speed and shadow magic to stay one step ahead. Each time the creature missed an attack, he countered with precise strikes of lightning.

Nytheria watched from the sidelines, her expression unreadable. Inside, however, she was impressed. He's adapting quickly, she thought. Maybe he's not just all talk after all.

Basil's strategy was working, but the basilisk was relentless. Its hide shimmered with steel-like resilience, and while his attacks were wearing it down, they weren't enough to finish it.

He paused for a moment, catching his breath. I need something stronger, he thought. A combination attack.

Gathering his mana, Basil prepared to unleash his most powerful strike yet. He channeled darkness to cloak himself, wind to propel him at blinding speed, and electricity to charge his body with devastating energy.

"Time to end this," he said, his voice steady despite the adrenaline coursing through him.

With a final burst of speed, Basil closed the distance, leaping onto the basilisk's back. He placed his hand directly on its exposed neck and unleashed the stored electric energy in a concentrated surge.

The beast let out one final roar before collapsing to the ground, its body twitching as the electricity coursed through it.

Victory and Reflection

Basil stumbled back, exhausted but triumphant. He leaned against a tree, his breathing heavy.

Nytheria approached, her arms crossed and a teasing smirk on her face. "Not bad, Mama's boy," she said. "I might start believing you're worth something."

Basil shot her a tired glare. "You're welcome," he said, his sarcasm unyielding.

Nytheria's gaze softened for a moment, though her tone remained playful. "You've got potential, Basil. But don't get cocky. This was just the beginning."

As she turned to leave, Basil caught her whispering to herself, "Maybe you really are special."

He couldn't help but smile. For the first time, he felt like he was proving himself—not just to Nytheria but to the world.
