Return to Eryndor
The mighty shadows of two dragons streaked across the sky over Eryndor territory. People below paused their daily tasks, their gazes fixed upward. It was not unusual to see the Frost Dragon Queen, Lady Anarya, in her magnificent dragon form. But today, a second, sleek black dragon accompanied her.
"Who is that?" murmurs spread like wildfire among the people.
In the main hall of the Eryndor mansion, Lord Eryndor stood on the balcony, his arms crossed, watching the dragons descend. His sharp eyes immediately recognized his wife, but his brows furrowed as his gaze fell on the other dragon.
"Interesting," he muttered, his lips curving into a faint smirk.
When the dragons landed in the courtyard, a flurry of activity erupted as the household gathered. The sight of Basil atop the black dragon sent waves of shock rippling through the crowd.
Reunion and Teasing
As the dragons transformed into their humanoid forms, Basil dismounted and made a beeline for his wives. Lira and Celeste, who had been waiting anxiously, barely had time to react before Basil wrapped them both in a warm embrace.
"I missed you both," he said sincerely, his voice muffled as he buried his face in their shoulders.
Lira blushed, her usual composure faltering. "W-We missed you too, Basil," she stammered.
Celeste, on the other hand, glared playfully at him. "You better have. Leaving us here while you go on grand adventures isn't fair!"
Standing nearby, Nytheria observed the scene with an amused smirk. She crossed her arms and leaned slightly forward. "Oh, your wives are quite something special, Basil," she teased, her voice dripping with mischief.
Lira and Celeste turned their attention to the stunning black-haired woman, their jealousy flaring as they noticed her striking features and confident demeanor.
"Who is she?" Celeste asked, narrowing her eyes.
"Yeah, Basil," Lira added, her tone slightly accusatory. "Why does she seem so... comfortable with you?"
Nytheria seized the opportunity, stepping closer and throwing an arm around Basil's shoulder. "Your husband has been quite affectionate toward me during our travels," she said, feigning a wistful sigh.
Basil choked, his face turning red as he tried to pull away. "D-Don't say it like that!"
His wives glared at him, their jealousy boiling over. Nytheria chuckled, clearly enjoying their reactions.
Respect for Power
The atmosphere shifted as Lord Eryndor approached, his expression calm but respectful. He stopped before Nytheria and inclined his head slightly.
"Lady Nytheria," he said, his voice formal, "welcome to our homeland. It is an honor to have you here."
Basil blinked, utterly stunned by his father's demeanor. "Father," he blurted out, "why are you being so polite to this psychopath?"
The words barely left his mouth before Nytheria's hand connected with the back of his head. "Watch your tongue, Mama's boy," she said mockingly, though her tone lacked real malice.
Lord Eryndor raised an eyebrow, his lips twitching with suppressed amusement. "You don't understand, Basil," he said. "Lady Nytheria is a being of immense power and significance. Her presence here is a great boon to our family."
Basil rubbed the back of his head, muttering under his breath. Nytheria smirked and leaned closer to him. "You really don't know me yet, do you?" she teased, her golden eyes gleaming with mischief.
A New Chapter Begins
As the household buzzed with the news of their return, Basil couldn't shake the feeling that things were about to change drastically. Nytheria's arrival had already disrupted the delicate balance of his life, and he could only imagine what new challenges awaited him.
For now, though, he was home. And no matter how chaotic things became, he would face them head-on, just as he always had.
