I finalized the divorce proceedings with Vivienne. She didn't fight me for any assets and left with nothing.

"I couldn't care less about that crummy house and money," she sneered.

"Carter's going to give me ten million in a few days. I'm off to live the life of a wealthy socialite."

I shrugged, not bothering to say another word to her as I turned and walked away.

A week later, Aria suddenly called me up, asking to meet at a coffee shop.

She told me that after leaving my place that day, she took a trip to Carter's hometown.

She dug up all the dirt on Carter's past.

Carter wasn't just a gold digger; he was scum of the earth.

Years ago, he'd done time for fraud and scams. Even his current name wasn't his real one.

He'd pulled some strings to clean up his image, and very few people knew about his past.

"That poor kid, actually. The doctor said he'd have cognitive issues after that fall he took."

Aria sighed softly. It's true, the child was innocent in all this.
