Chapter 27: The Confrontation of the past and the kindness of today

The fierce battle between Renault and Kane has entered a heated stage, dazzling brilliance and deafening collision filled the entire battlefield. Her fingers were slightly clenched, and a mixture of emotions surged through her chest.

She knows that this battle is not just a fight between brothers, but a collision of power, obsession and unresolved past emotions. There was temptation in Renault's eyes, and persistence in Kane's.

At this moment, Natalie's thoughts were pulled back to the past, back to the day when they had not yet parted ways.

It was four years ago, and the sun shone on the ground through the Windows of the palace, and the golden glow made the whole hall look very sacred. Elena stood by and watched Reynaud discuss the details of the marriage contract with the emperor. Her heart was full of hope and sweetness.

"From this day forward, my Lord, I am your betrothed." "She whispered, with a hint of shyness and firmness in her voice.

Leno smiled and took her hand with a rare tenderness in his eyes. "Elena, this is the beginning for us. No matter what the future holds, I will always be there for you."

Her heart was beating fast and her cheeks were flushed. At that moment, Elena thought her future would always be as bright and warm as the sun.

However, the sweetness did not last long.

News of the engagement soon spread throughout the palace, and early the next morning Kane went to Raynor and said with a tone that was impossible to ignore: "Raynor, fight me."

Renaud, who was practicing his sword in the courtyard, looked up and there was a doubt in his eyes. "Kane, are you serious? For what?"

Kane did not explain, but clenched his fists, with a stubborn look in his eyes: "I don't need a reason, I just want to make sure you are qualified to protect Elena."

Renaud's expression becomes complicated. He puts his sword back in its sheath. "You're not jealous of me, are you, Kane?" he says playfully.

Kane did not answer, but said coldly, "Cut the crap, Reno." If you don't dare, admit that you don't deserve her."

Renaud sighed, then took off his coat and tossed it aside: "Well, if you insist, so be it." But don't say I didn't warn you, don't cry when you lose."

Elena was passing by and was stunned when she saw the scene: "What are you doing?"

"Learn from each other." Kane answered coldly, but there was a mixed emotion in her eyes that she did not understand.

The floor of the courtyard was covered with fine gravel, and Reynaud and Kane stood in the center, squaring off against each other. Both men did not have the strength of the Angel lineup at the time, and competed only with the strength and skill of the body.

Kane was the first to rush forward, fists with a fierce wind to Renault's face. Leno quickly sidestepped and grabbed Kane's open backhand, striking him right in the stomach with his fist.

Kane snorted, but instead of backing away, he took advantage of the opportunity to lift his leg and kick Renault's knee. Raynor subconsciously jumped to dodge, but another punch from Kane followed, hitting him in the shoulder.

The movements of the two men are quick and fast, and there is no mercy between punches. The sand and stone were raised by their footsteps, and the whole courtyard was filled with the sound of collision and gasping.

Elena, who was standing nearby, was terrified and could not help Shouting: "Enough, you are just practicing, don't take it too seriously!"

Leno responded with a smile: "Elena, don't worry, he can't beat me."

Kane's eyes burned with undisguised obsession: "Renault, do you really think you can always protect her?" You don't understand what she needs! '

Leno's smile stiffened for a moment, then his gaze hardened. "Kane, I know her needs best, and it's not for you to question them."

The two fought more and more violently, and finally Raynor landed a hook on Kane's jaw, knocking him out for good.

Kane lay on the ground, panting, his eyes still stubborn. He looked up at Renaud and said, "Don't let me find out you're treating her badly, or I'll take her away."

Renaud sneered, reached out his hand and pulled him to his feet, a little defiantly: "Don't worry, Kane. You'll never have a chance."

Elena stepped forward, somewhat reproachfully: "Kane, you don't have to do this. We're friends, and I've always thought of you as a brother."

Kane's body froze for a moment, then bowed his head in silence. He did not look at her again, but left silently.

...

The battle between Raynor and Kane has come to an end, and the light and dust are gradually dissipating. Raynor stood in the center of the ring, his long sword shining brightly, while Kane's holy shield had cracked.

Renaud put the sword on Kane's shoulder and looked cold: "Kane, this is your strength?" Now, do you still want to rob people?"

The crowd of onlookers fell silent, all holding their breath, waiting for the next step.

Kane, breathing heavily, looked straight up at Renaud without flinching: "Renaud, do it if you can!"

Reno's blade quivered, then slowly dropped. He put away his sword and said coldly, "I don't need to hurt you, Kane. You were and are no match for me."

Kane clenched his teeth, but said nothing more. He knew that he had lost the game, but his obsession was still alive.

Natalie watched Reynold put the sword back to the sheath, the heart flashed numerous complex emotions. The fight four years ago still seems to be fresh in my mind, but today, the rift between the brothers is long gone.
