Chapter 99: Revil Wants to Watch

Chapter 99: Revil Wants to Watch

"General Revil, this is too dangerous. Please reconsider—"

"No need to say more. This will do. White Base, depart."

General Revil ignored Bright's protest and walked straight onto the bridge of White Base.

"Alright, hurry up and perform your duty."

Revil urged Bright to take his seat as captain, while he himself sat to the side, showing no intention of interfering with command.

White Base was now setting out to confront an enemy that had been harassing the Federation forces for days, even managing to shoot down three Salamis-class ships and one Columbus-class vessel.

Yet, despite having been secretly staying aboard White Base all this time, Revil had no intention of leaving. Instead, he was pushing Bright to depart immediately.

Even Dozle hadn't been let off; he was being dragged along for the operation as well.

To put it bluntly, this was an utterly irresponsible act.

But this was General Revil—no one could criticize him for it.

"I trust you all. Get moving."

Bright stared at Revil, hoping he would change his mind.

After a long silence, realizing he couldn't sway him, Bright turned and took his seat as captain.

"Proceed at low speed. Once we break formation, maintain radio silence and advance at maximum battle speed to the target area!"

White Base was now heading towards a position above Solomon Fortress.

Over the past few days, the enemy had been launching attacks from Solomon's horizontal plane to maximize their impact on the Federation forces.

To capture them, Bright decided to hide White Base until the enemy struck, then accelerate forward to intercept.

A simple yet effective tactic—Bright was a practical man.

But the one issue with this strategy was how to pinpoint the enemy's location.

No one brought it up, but the pressure on Eli and Amuro was steadily increasing.

In a situation where the attack direction and actual position didn't align, only Newtypes could detect the enemy's presence.

As much as they didn't want to admit it, Newtypes were proving invaluable in warfare.

And now, with General Revil aboard, the unspoken burden on the two Newtypes grew even heavier.

"Don't push yourself too hard."

Sayla floated in front of the EZ-SR's cockpit, speaking to Eli, who was already on standby inside.

"You too, Sayla. Make sure to protect yourself first."

"You mean protect General Revil first…"

Sayla sighed and lightly tapped Eli's forehead.

Eli chuckled and winked at her.

Sayla's face flushed slightly. She glanced around to make sure no one was watching, then leaned into the cockpit and kissed Eli lightly on the cheek.

Without waiting to see his reaction, she quickly covered her face and floated back toward her Gundam.

"Eli-san, are you ready?"

The others might not have noticed, but Amuro, who had been maintaining a visual communication link with Eli, saw everything clearly.

Sighing, Amuro urged Eli to get moving.

"Got it~"

The EZ-SR stepped onto the electromagnetic catapult, crouched slightly, then launched forward with a burst of speed!

Amuro, piloting the NT-1, followed closely behind.

However, the two didn't move in the same direction; they split off toward separate locations.

Meanwhile, three other mobile suits remained near White Base to defend it.

General Revil could not be put at risk.

Eli's designated area was a field of artificial wreckage.

Not an intentionally created debris zone, but rather a graveyard of human-made remnants.

From mobile suits to aircraft to battleships—this was a battlefield relic from the war's early days.

Eli hid himself among the wreckage.

A long wait lay ahead.

Based on their observations, the enemy should launch their next attack in approximately three hours.

Though the enemy had been varying their attack times, Revil's strategists were no fools—they had mapped out all possible patterns for reference.

"For now, just wait."

Eli leaned back in his seat and activated his helmet's light-filtering layer.

This way, he could see the stars more clearly.

Spending the next three hours in a mobile suit on standby—how to pass the time was a skill in itself.

---

Someone was nearby.

A strange, gentle presence.

But at this time, in this place, it could only be the enemy!

"Colonel, there's—"

"Boom!"

Before Lalah could finish speaking, a beam struck the side of her Elmeth.

"Lalah!"

Char, piloting his custom Rick Dom, was instantly enraged.

Without even aiming properly, he fired several shots from his beam rifle to suppress the enemy.

Fireballs erupted in the distance, but Char knew the enemy wasn't eliminated.

"Fall back and deploy your Funnels, Lalah! The enemy… No, it's—GUNDAM!"

Char raised his shield cautiously.

His wariness toward Gundams had reached an all-time high.

Before this sortie, he had even taken Lalah's advice and put on a standard pilot suit.

Naturally, it was red.

"I understand, Colonel. I will protect you, no matter what."

Lalah's words made Char smile genuinely.

But that smile quickly faded as he spotted a streak of white light approaching.

A sharp, overwhelming presence was coming straight for him!

Could he hold his own against a Gundam…?

After confirming that his Rick Dom showed no system errors, Char took a deep breath and focused entirely on the battle ahead.

This custom Rick Dom had been tuned for reactor output and power efficiency. At the very least, it should match the new Gundam in speed.

"Here we go!"

As the Rick Dom's thrusters ignited, a burst from its right-side vernier propelled it into a sidestep, narrowly dodging a pink beam.

Then, Char slammed his foot down on the pedal, accelerating into a head-on charge toward the enemy!

A comet and a shooting star clashed in a furious advance.

The battlefield was littered with debris, yet both pilots maneuvered as if oblivious to the obstacles, continuously firing at each other.

Occasionally, their shots ignited explosive remnants among the wreckage, triggering fierce detonations.

"Char!"

"Hah! Gundam!"

Amidst the battlefield's wreckage, two destined rivals called out each other's names as they clashed!
