A dream opportunity

Odessa sat in the campus cafe with Astrid, she couldn't wait to share the news with her best friend.

"Guess what" Odessa started

"What" Astrid asked

"Professor Dylan chose me to meet with George Anderson from Paragon Entertainment

"OMG, that's the 3rd best Entertainment Company in the Entertainment Industry, I'm so happy for you" Astrid said

"Thank you" Odessa replied

"But I don't know Asty, I feel like I'm not qualified enough" Odessa said. Astrid waved her hand dismissively

"Don't talk nonsense Dessa, you are an incredible upcoming actress, you deserve this opportunity" Astrid said. Odessa smiled feeling a surge of gratitude towards her friend

"Thanks Asty, you are always so supportive" Odessa said

"Anytime, what are best friends for" Astrid said with a slight smile on her face.

A week later Odessa booked a flight to New York, her heart racing with excitement, the thought of meeting George Anderson was daunting.

When she reached Paragon Entertainment, Odessa's nerves began to get the better of her, she took a deep breath before entering, she was greeted by the receptionist, a short blonde lady

"Hi, I'm here to see George Anderson" Odessa said in a confident voice

"Do you have an appointment" she asked

"No but my Professor ....." She didn't let me finish before she interrupted

"I'm sorry sweetheart but I can't be of any help" she said and turned to another to person who just came in, I let out a frustrated groan. I called Professor Dylan hoping he could intervene and after he had a brief conversation with the receptionist, she turned to me and said

"Mr George is not in at the moment, you can come tomorrow" she said and diverted her attention back to her computer. Odessa felt a wave of frustration wash over her, she had travelled all the way from California all to be told that George Anderson was not in, she stormed out of the office with the hope of coming back the next day.

I checked my phone for any of the nearest hotel and after booking a room, I booked a cab to take me there, it was surprising how New York had changed so much, the last time I was here was four years ago.She got to the hotel and the receptionist gave her the key to her room.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Odessa POV
I woke up feeling quite refreshed after a good night's sleep, I was extremely tired the previous day but now I am ready to tackle the day ahead, I had a quick bath and wore a fitted white blouse, black pencil skirt and a pair of sleek black heels, I styled my hair in loose waves and did a subtle yet elegant makeup.
After dressing, I called room service to request breakfast in my room, I sat down to enjoy my meal feeling a sense of calm wash of me, but I was ready to face reality, I quickly finished my meal and called room service to come clear it, I booked a cab to Paragon Entertainment.
As I arrived at the building, I felt a sense of trepidation, would he be kind and supportive or cold and calculative, rumors had it that he was the latter and I couldn't help but feel a little scared, but what have I got to loose, all my life I've been surrounded by bad people so I kinda got used to it and so I felt at that moment that there was nothing to be afraid of.
When I got there the receptionist told me he was in a meeting but had earlier been informed of my arrival so u could wait at his office, u slowly made my way to his office taking the elevator and pushed the button of the first floor, when I got there I saw a handsome looking man with a charming smile, he introduced himself
"I'm Sitio Nesiweche, George's friend, he didn't tell me he had a beautiful lady coming today" Sitio said
"I'm Odessa Ross and please don't misunderstand the situation, I'm from Langley University, I came here for a job" I told him
"So you are Odessa Ross, as in the daughter of Reginald Ross" he asked
"Yes" I replied with a bit of hesitation in my voice.
Before Sitio could ask any questions George Anderson appeared looking every inch the powerful businessman he was, he greeted Odessa with a warm smile and that smile gave Odessa a sense of relief
"You are Odessa, am I right ?" George asked
"Yes I am" I replied
"Please take a seat" he said to me and turned to Sitio
"Sitio I'll see you later" he said
"No problem, George" Sitio said and left the office leaving only me and George
George sat down on his chair and said
"So shall we begin" he asked
"Yes" I replied
"So Odessa tell me, do you think you have what it takes to make it in this industry" George asked. I nodded confidently
"Yes sir, although I'm still in the University I'm confident I have what it takes to be qualified, though I'm in my final year, I'm the one of the best in my classes" I answered confidently
"And what make you think you are qualified to work with Paragon Entertainment" he asked
"I've done mrepresents. and I'm impressed with the caliber of talent this company represents and with my skills and dedication I see myself as a great fit" I replied
George nodded his head making a note on his pad
"I see, how do you handle rejections" he asked
Odessa thought for a moment before giving her reply
"I try to learn from it, every rejection is an opportunity to grow and improve" she said with a smile on her face
"Excellent" George said as he leaned in curiosity in his eyes
"I've heard rumors that you are not on good terms with your family, is that true ?" he asked. Odessa smile faltered a bit
"What do you mean" she asked
"I mean it would be a shame if one of my actresses is not on good terms with her family" he said
"I assure you sir there is nothing to worry about, those are just rumors,my family and I are perfectly fine" I said
"Very well then we will see each other at the party tomorrow" he said
"What party are you talking about" Odessa asked with a bit of confusion laced in her voice
"Did your parents not tell you anything" he asked and Odessa gave off a nervous and awkward laughter
"You see, my parents and I have not gotten the chance to sit and talk, I arrive yesterday" I told him
"Well Odessa thank you for coming in today, we'll be in touch very soon" he said
"Thank you Mr Anderson" I said and got up ready to leave. I just hoped I got the job.
