Thechapter 11:- Hunt for the Second Artifact

Chapter 11:

Kieran and Nyx traveled under the cover of twilight, their steps guided by the faint pulsing of the dragon scale. The artifact seemed to react to something in the distance, its glow faintly flickering like a heartbeat. They had left Eldenhold behind, venturing deeper into uncharted lands.

The night air was crisp, and the wilderness stretched endlessly around them. Kieran felt the weight of his father's cryptic warning pressing heavily on his mind. He glanced at Nyx, who moved with unwavering focus, her golden eyes scanning the path ahead.

"Do you feel it too, Nyx?" Kieran asked, breaking the silence.

The shadowfang let out a low growl, her ears pricking forward. She stopped abruptly, sniffing the air. Kieran followed her gaze and saw a faint shimmer on the horizon—an unnatural glow that seemed to ripple like water.

"That must be it," he murmured. "The second artifact."

But as they approached, the air grew colder, and an ominous presence began to seep into the atmosphere.

---

The glow led them to a canyon shrouded in mist, its edges jagged and sharp. The ground was slick with frost, and the temperature dropped sharply as they descended. Kieran's breath came in visible puffs, and Nyx's fur bristled as the cold bit at them.

At the heart of the canyon lay a frozen lake, its surface eerily still. In the center stood a pedestal of ice, and atop it rested the second artifact: a crystalline orb that pulsed with a soft, blue light.

Kieran's heart quickened. "We're close."

As he stepped onto the lake, the ice groaned under his weight. He moved cautiously, each step bringing him closer to the orb. But Nyx stopped at the edge, growling fiercely.

"What's wrong?" Kieran asked, turning back to her.

Before he could react, the ice beneath him cracked violently, and a deafening roar echoed through the canyon. From the depths of the frozen lake emerged a massive beast—a frost wyvern, its scales glinting like shards of ice.

---

The wyvern's glowing blue eyes locked onto Kieran, and it let out another roar, its breath freezing the air around it. It was clear this beast was the guardian of the artifact, and it would not let Kieran take it without a fight.

,!" Kieran shouted, scrambling back as the wyvern lunged.

Nyx charged onto the ice, her claws digging in for balance. The shadowfang leapt at the wyvern, slashing at its wings, but the massive beast swatted her aside with its tail.

Kieran felt their bond surge with energy. He reached for the dragon scale, holding it aloft. The artifact pulsed, sending a wave of warmth through him and Nyx.

"Let's do this together," Kieran said, his voice steady.

The battle was fierce. The wyvern unleashed waves of icy wind, forcing Kieran and Nyx to work in perfect harmony. Kieran used the scale's energy to create barriers of heat, shielding them from the worst of the cold, while Nyx exploited the wyvern's blind spots, her agility keeping her one step ahead of its attacks.

Finally, with a coordinated strike, Nyx leapt onto the wyvern's back, pinning its wings as Kieran dashed forward. He slammed the dragon scale against the pedestal, releasing a surge of light that enveloped the lake.

The wyvern let out a final roar before collapsing, its body dissolving into shimmering mist. The orb floated free from the pedestal, landing softly in Kieran's hands.

---

The moment Kieran touched the orb, visions flooded his mind. He saw glimpses of the rift realms—vast landscapes teeming with strange, powerful beasts. He felt the weight of their power and the chaos that could be unleashed if the artifacts fell into the wrong hands.

Nyx nudged his side, bringing him back to the present. He looked down at the orb, its glow steady and calming.

"This is only the second one," he said, his voice heavy with realization. "There are three more out there… and we don't have much time."

Nyx growled softly, her golden eyes filled with determination. Kieran felt a surge of gratitude for her unwavering loyalty.

"We'll figure it out," he said, tightening his grip on the orb. "One step at a time."

As they left the canyon, Kieran couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched. The air felt heavier, and the shadows seemed to stretch unnaturally long.

### **A New Threat Looms**

High above the canyon, hidden in the swirling mist, Malgrave watched Kieran and Nyx leave with the orb. His crimson-scaled beast growled beside him, its dark eyes gleaming with malice.

"So, the boy grows stronger," Malgrave muttered, a twisted smile spreading across his face. "But he doesn't realize the cost of his power… yet."

With a wave of his hand, Malgrave disappeared into the mist, his laughter echoing faintly through the frozen abyss.
