Ivonne's POV
The room fell quiet, painfully for a moment, with Tobias's words hanging suspended. My heart pounded, fear and determination flowing through me. I gazed at Leo, and his face was a duplicate of mine in terror. Our decision was poised between us like a rope around our ankles, but now we couldn't turn back.
"We have to get out quickly," I told him, attempting to remain calm in the midst of turmoil raging within me. "Get the team ready and have us prepare to depart. We're departing at dawn."
Leo nodded firmly, jaw clenched. "I'll do it. I'll make it happen."
As he departed, I approached Tobias, who had stubbornly refused to reply. His eyes cut into me, his feelings rising behind them like a churning sea.
"Are you completely sure of this, Ivonne?" he breathed, his low voice laden with fear. "This mission. it is not safe. And with all that has happened."
