Chapter 80: A Jealous Wolf's Embrace

Ovelia's POV

Ann's sudden shove sent me stumbling forward before I could react. My boots scraped against the rough ground as I barely caught my balance, my heart pounding wildly. Had she noticed how often my gaze lingered on Ray's striking silver-and-orange pelt? The heat flooding my cheeks confirmed what I already knew - my fascination was painfully obvious.

My fingers instinctively brushed against my dress pocket, checking for the fairy's tiny form. The faint flutter against my fingertips reassured me he remained undisturbed and safe.

"Is there a problem, Ovelia?" Ray's voice cut through my panic, smooth as honey yet laced with amusement. His orange eyes gleamed in the firelight, catching flecks of gold I'd never noticed before.

"N-no, Ray," I stammered. The warmth in my face intensified, spreading down my neck. My stomach churned with equal parts embarrassment and giddy anticipation.
