Dante then pulled the wand he received out of his pocket and handed it to Grant. He looked over the design and began to inspect it, unsure what to make of it. He thought to himself for a quick moment, looking over the details and examining the wand closely.
"It has the form of a wand…but no sense of magical properties. No mana stones nor energy coming from it…not to mention there being no possible sign of it being a "sword"...?"
He handed it back to Dante and pondered to himself momentarily before speaking again.
"You said it was a…"
"Wand-sword thingy."
"Right…wand-sword…thingy. Where would you say the "sword" part comes into play here?"
"Oh, right, I can show you."
Dante then stood up and gripped the wand with two hands as he had before. A tinge of heat was felt in his hands before the wand quickly shifted into the shape of a sword. The sudden change shocked Grant as he stood quickly at the sight of it. Clearly, I'm mystified at such an item being a real thing.
"Incredible! I never thought something of this sort could exist! A wand that has the function to turn into a sword…who would've thought!"
He began to write quickly within a small pocketbook as he began to ask a multitude of questions of him.
"Where did you find such a thing?"
"How long have you had it?"
"Tell me, how did you go about activating it?"
"Was it pure luck, magic, or a trick?"
The questions flew in like a wildfire he'd never seen before; trying to keep up with each one became increasingly more difficult as his brain began to spin. Grant seemed to realize he was overloading the boy's brain with questions as he coughed to himself to settle. Dante slowly put the sword back into its wand form and placed it back into his pocket. He didn't know too much about the sword and how he was seemingly the only one able to activate it into that form. However, he slowly gained a sense of how it could possibly work.
But before he could continue to explain what he thought was the process, Grant began to stand up as he put his book away in his sleeve pocket. He invited Dante to continue walking through the streets with him some more as they continued their conversation.
"You had some guts talking to Reno the way you did. Especially considering Terra was there. She's a firework waiting to explode sometimes."
Dante looked at the ground, ashamed at the thought. He stood up for her but felt that he possibly made her situation with her father worse by being there. Grant noticed and let out a sigh.
"Don't worry too much about the girl; she's as tough as ever and bounces back just fine. However, I do want to mention something…I haven't seen such determination by someone in some time. You're an interesting one."
"Sorry, I let my emotions get the best of me during that argument. It wasn't my place to speak."
"Oh, don't worry. I've had a few times I wanted to give that stubborn guy a piece of my mind, so I got it. Though considering Terra and her father are always bickering with one another, it's no surprise that she doesn't come around the estate often."
"She doesn't?"
"You would think the daughter of one of the most prestigious noble families in Auradelle would be primed to visit her folks every so often. In truth, it was the first time in months she'd come around."
"Months!?"
"Yep. Terra's just as stubborn as her father, though poor Natasha has to deal with the banter when she just wants them to all be happy, bless her heart."
