Exchange - Chapter 4

"I like this place a lot, you know? It's away from all of the stupid policies and things my family deals with. You wouldn't catch my dad dead in a place like this."

"I guess I could see that."

"I also wanted to apologize to you…"

She lowered her head and softly grabbed at her hair, brushing her fingers through each strand. He didn't realize she also wanted to apologize even though he felt she did no wrong in the process.

"I expected a lot more from the old man at the moment. He's pretty difficult, I should have seen that coming."

She sighed heavily as she rubbed her face solemnly.

"Don't apologize, it should be me doing so. Any chance of him helping was cut off the moment I opened my mouth."

"That's not entirely true!"

"No, I said too much and spouted off at him. I even said I'd do everything on my own, I didn't even know I was capable of saying something so rash."

"Even still, you promised to get in no matter what, right?

"Yeah, that's true..."

"Well, let's figure that out before anything."

Terra closed her eyes as she leaned back in her stall seat and crossed her arms, letting out a sigh of relief after the talking. It seemed seeing Dante once more eased her nerves as she wondered if she'd made him want to return home after the argument. She slightly peered open one of her eyes to see Dante looking down at his hands.

"What's wrong?" she questioned, leaning closer to see what he was looking at. He looked from side to side before slowly pulling out what seemed to be a small card. She took it from his hands and looked over the script before her eyes widened.

"Wait, you continued talking to my godfather after everything?"

Dante continued to look down at his hands as he mumbled, seemingly still ashamed of what he did. Terra stood up from her seat before placing herself next to him on the seat. Her weight being added to the seat was light and barely noticeable. Though he had been with her the majority of the time, it seemed she finally was able to take the time to pamper herself. He could smell the scent of the perfume she wore as it tickled his nose with a soft fragrance. He seemed distracted at the thought, before realizing she was talking to him the whole time.

"Hey, are you listening?"

"Oh–what?"

"I was asking what you were doing with him?"

"Oh, right…"

He then went on to explain what happened between him and Grant in full detail, trying his best not to leave any details out of description. Terra seemed intrigued in the story, before looking once more at the card. Her eyes tensed before reading over the script a few more times.

"So he's willing to help you get your paperwork done? I never knew he was the type to do such things. Especially for strangers like yourself…"

"He is a pretty interesting guy, I don't even know where his office is located."

"His office? I can show you after we get something to eat. He must've forgotten you're not from here, of course you wouldn't know where to go hehe."

"Yeah, you're right."
