Arriving in the city of Hendl, Drake was taken back at the size as it seemed more like its own kingdom with the castle at the center. He has bypassed the other villages allowing him to arrive in five days instead of the weeks he had originally estimated.
"Reason for arrival." Sighed a guard as Drake finally made it to the front of the line.
"Guild registration." Answered Drake causing the man to take in his appearance.
"Welcome to the city, please be wary of your actions." Nodded the guard waving him through.
Taking in the sights he couldn't help his intrigue as he searched for a guild.
He saw elves and dwarves and other beings supposedly smiled upon by the heavens.
-------
After a bit he began to notice that the people he was seeing now usually wore armor and had some kind of marker.
It was at this point he could see the sign for a guild.
"Faux Machina, interesting name." Muttered Drake as he stopped his horse outside and entered.
------
Upon entry he noticed that no one paid attention to him, a stark contrast to his previous encounters.
Walking up to the desk he was greeted by a smiling man.
"Welcome traveler, how can Faux Machina assist you today?" Asked the man.
"I'd like to register and purchase a bounty book. I also have a bounty to turn in." Answered Drake surprising the man.
"Oh well, usually I'd arrange for a test but the currently we have no testers....* Apologized the man.
"Then just give me the lowest rank until one arrives." Answered Drake.
"I'm afraid it's not that simple, even low grade quests can be dangerous. If you would like I can still get you a bounty book and pay you for the bounty." Offered the man.
"Very well. Gut bring out Keeper." Ordered Drake causing the bag to spit the ghoul out.
"Give him the bandit head." Commanded Drake causing the ghoul to nod excitedly at seeing the pay.
Tossing the head on the counter the man jumped a bit, the scene gaining the attention of a few others.
"Ah... Yes, just uh let me take it to be checked." Said the man grabbing a rag and carrying the head by the ear.
Drake waited a few moments before he returned with a small sack of money that was quickly grabbed by Keeper causing Gut to hiss.
"I took the sum of the bounty book from the reward, now the bounty book is a special item that is connected through a rune to a main book in the Crucible. It will update automatically and record the latest information on the people listed. If that is all" started the man but Drake interrupted.
"Do you know where I can sell loot?" Asked Drake.
"There is a trader if you head out the doors and go left there is one on the opposite side of the guild." Answered the man quickly.
Drake nodded and left.
------
Outside he had Keeper grab his horse as they followed the attendants direction and entered the trader.
----
"Welcome to the Dead man's chest, how many we be of assistance today." Greeted an elf woman.
"Keeper, Gut, spit out the non essentials." Commanded Drake causing the two to act in harmony for once as the elf woman's eyes widened.
"A-ah wow, um let me grab some help and we can begin with assessing and appraising. In the meantime feel free to browse our wares." Drake nodded and left Keeper to watch over everything knowing the little wretch wouldn't allow one thing to go unaccounted for.
Walking through the warehouse like building he was rather impressed. Tomes and weapons of magnificent power and quality were on display. However his eyes were drawn to the totems.
------
"Excuse me but what are those little totems?" Asked Drake.
"Well you said it, these are Totems. Handy little knick knacks that let you summon the creature depicted." Explained a dark skinned man.
"Interesting do they do that?" Asked Drake causing the man to grin seeing he had the lads interest.
"Well it's actually very difficult despite how simple it might sound. You see first one must have a slimes core however the hard part is capturing the soul of the beast. Thus I hope you can understand why they might be a little pricey." Smiled the man trying to build up their worth.
"How long do they last once activated?" Asked Drake causing the man to smile.
"That's the beauty my young friend, these little beauties are a wonderful investment because they last until slain or until the owner wills them back." Smiled the man thinking he'd the lad hook line and sinker.
"How do they recognize the owner?" Asked Drake causing the man to chuckle.
"Just a drop of blood and it will be bound to you. So what do you say can I interest you in a few?" Grinned the man.
"Let me get one just to try it out while I'm traveling " relented Drake.
"Excellent which tier could I interest you in?" Chuckled the man.
"I don't understand.." admitted Drake causing the man to sigh.
"Monsters just like adventurers are out into tiers with S being the highest and F the lowest." Explained the man causing Drake to nod as he recalled something similar when he was forced to work for the adventurers before he awakened his ability.
"Then B." Answered Drake causing the man to just toss him a Totem.
"Here Its a mud golem. Just drop your blood on it and throw it out and will it to life. That'll be 250 gold." Smiled the man again as Drake looked at Gut causing the bag to grimace before it spit out the requested amount.
"Thank you, I'll be sure to come back for more should it prove handy." Nodded Drake though the concept behind their creation had him intrigued.
-------
Returning to the counter he saw Keeper looking pleased with himself.
"Master they tried to swindle Keeper but my greedy eye tells all when it comes to value!" Reported Keeper causing the elf girl to wince.
"That is why I trusted you to watch over things, miss I trust in the future you won't dabble in such misconduct." Stated Drake leading Keeper out of the store.
Drake after having left the trader mounted his horse while pulling out his bounty book.
"Master perhaps you allow Keeper back in brother Gut." Suggested the blight.
"No guide the horse while I try to find a target." Stated Drake holding the map while trying to find a target within a reasonable travel distance.
-----
After some time he had to forego the thought of trying to find a nearby target.
"F- Tier, Ariol Gembrooks. Last seen in the port town of Curanto, is in possession of a artifact desired by the Duke in the northern Kingdom of Swans. Is a skilled Rogue/Alchemist, specializes in poisons. Known affiliations- Serpents Den, Coven of the Mad Witch, Thieves Bloom. Reward is set at eighty gold, with the artifact three hundred gold." Read off Drake causing Keeper to become energetic.
"Oh Master it is a good business to head hunt, especially a thief!" smiled the little wretch revealing his gnarled teeth.
"Perhaps, though you should pay attention to details. What is special about the artifact that it would boost the reward by two hundred gold, it must be something interesting." smiled Drake as he grabbed Keeper and forced him into Greedy Gut.
Grabbing the reigns he goosed the horse urging it into a run excitement dancing in his eyes.
