I was at the supermarket when I bumped into Flora. And even though I tried to take a detour, she followed me closely. She was the last person I needed to find but felt like I couldn’t avoid her.
“What a girlfriend you turned out to be, Abigail, cheating on Max like that,” she started, and I tried to ignore her, grabbing a few items from the halls.
She did not like the fact that I was pretending she didn’t exist, so she pushed more. “Poor Max, all broken now and just when his mom was hospitalized, what requires a new level of coldness I did not expect from you.”
I wanted to put her in her place, but I remained quiet and did not respond. Deep inside me, I knew as a woman myself, that ignoring her was what hurt her the most. I just had to keep with the same attitude.
