Chapter 4 The Breeder

Tori's POV

I felt the blinding light of the morning and opened my eyes.

Lying next to my bed was a naked man, the Alpha of the prestigious Black Shadow pack, Cayden. He was unbelievably handsome and mesmerized countless women.

I had already remembered why I was here and everything that happened last night. I hurriedly pulled the blanket over and covered myself tightly.

To get my father's company to work with Cayden's, I gave up my virginity to sleep with him.

Although I was already afraid, I tried my best to complete the task my father had given me.

I didn't think I needed to stay here any longer. I got up gently and pulled the blanket over my naked body as I searched for my dress at the end of the bed.

"Are you awake?" Cayden's deep voice sounded, and I came back to see his eyes open.

"I've already completed the mission. Please fulfill the promise you made to my father." I pursed my lips. After a while, I said it hesitantly.

"Mission?" He only gazed at me quietly for a moment, though, his expression unreadable, and I wondered if he was impatient. "You mean... to sleep with me?"

I blinked, my eyes half-lowered. His blunt words reminded me suddenly of the image of his cock thrusting into me last night. I blushed.

He then snorted softly, and the aura around him became even more dignified.

"The maid?" he repeated to himself. He stared at me for a moment, then pinned me under him. He leaned over and looked me in the eye.

His fingers brushed my lips, and the closeness of his body sent shivers through me shivers of fear and longing. The distance between us shortened, but I wanted to be closer to him. It felt so strange.

My heart raced, my breathing quickened with fear, attraction, uncertainty, longing... all these emotions mixed together and blinded me.

"Didn't your father tell you?" he whispered. His voice was soothing, almost gentle. No matter how gentle it sounded, my gut told me he wasn't happy.

"Sorry? What?" I asked hesitantly, not sure I wanted to hear what he would say. Something deep inside me told me something was wrong.

I didn't know what he was going to say next would take away the last of my hopes and dreams.

"Your task is to bear my child," he replied.

I found my body and emotions frozen.

He stared at me. His fingers brushed the hair off my cheek again, leaving my entire face exposed to him. "You will be a breeder... my breeder."

The word tumbled through my mind. I tried to make sense of it. Now I understood the meaning of his gaze. It wasn't out of desire or interest. It was as if he was checking the goods he had just bought.

My father lied to me. I didn't just sleep with Cayden for a night. I was sold to him to have his baby. I was so stupid to believe my father.

'What does the breeder mean? Pregnant? No... no...' I wondered.

"No... please," I begged, not knowing what else to say or do. "I can work hard and I'll pay him back all the money you gave him. Please... just don't make me a breeder."

Cayden sat there quietly and looked at me. He didn't say a word, but his gaze became even colder. From the moment he narrowed his eyes, I knew that he didn't like my impulses.

Undoubtedly, he could easily have killed me with a strong hand around my throat. I understood that it would be wise to remain silent and stay away from this dangerous man.

"Let me pay off my father's debt..." Although my voice was weak, my tone was firm. "It's enough that I lost my virginity. I don't want to be a breeder."

He was silent, studying me unhurriedly, making it impossible to tell what he was thinking.

He glanced at me and said neutrally, "I'm afraid you cannot afford it. Your father owes a total of 80 million."

I almost collapsed to the ground.

He frowned and stopped talking. After all, I was just a small prey sent by my father. Letting go of my hair, he stood up and calmly instructed. "Stay here and rest today."

I grunted, very quietly. He heard me, or maybe he didn't. He walked off on his own.

I curled up under the covers in the bright sunlight, and I felt an empty sense of shame and a sense of loss that the future would never be bright again.

That night, I lost my virginity. Even when I slept with the most handsome man, that decadent guilt could not immediately be erased from my side.

If I had no real choice at all, and if this was the only path, I could only brace myself and continue.

I watched him go and asked, "What will happen to me when the baby is born?"

He stopped but didn't turn. There was a short silence. Then he said in a calm voice, "You will be free."

*****

In the afternoon, there was a sudden banging on the door. I jumped, thinking that he had returned. I stood rooted to the ground for a full minute. Finally, I opened the door anxiously.

I could face him in the morning, but after just one morning, I seemed to be a little afraid of him again. It wasn't him on the other side of the door. I breathed a huge sigh of relief.

"Ms. Herron, we're here on Alpha's orders to deliver your clothes," said a voice.

My clothes were all torn apart by him last night. At this moment, when I opened the door, I was wrapped in the bedsheets uncomfortably.

The person who delivered the clothes put down the clothes with a smile and left.

I leaned over to take a look. The clothes were exceptionally beautiful. Most of them were elegant white, blue, pink, and yellow.

I shook it open to take a look. The styles were very simple and clean, and they were all that I liked.

It was rare for me to have new clothes, already not bad to have one or two new clothes in a year.

'Is this a new outfit for me? A gift from Alpha?' I wondered. I couldn't help feeling a little nervous at the memory of his cool, handsome face.

There was also a pair of underwear under the clothes, which reminded me of how he had pressed against me last night.

Jace's POV

I looked at Alpha, who was sitting in a chair in the lobby of the Forest Hotel. He was staring out the window, deep in thought.

Cayden was done with the girl tonight.

Cayden wasn't just my Alpha but also my best friend and Beta's position was the result of trust.

However close we might be, I was first his subordinate and then his friend. In any case, I would maintain absolute respect and loyalty to him.

I was very surprised to hear what he had just said to Tori.

I tried to catch up with him. He walked the length of the hospital corridor, then out through the double doors onto the front lawn near the packhouse.

He was walking faster than usual, but I didn't know what else he had planned for tonight. He turned quickly and headed for his office. I followed him, closing the door behind me.

It was my responsibility to carry out his every order strictly, but I needed some clarification.

"Alpha, did the plan for Ms. Herron change? I thought..." I began.

"You know it, Jace. Do as I told you." Cayden turned his attention to the file in front of him.

We were preparing for a war, and that had always been the focus of his attention.

It was very important to know everything, and the newspaper was one of the sources of information. However, it was usually me who flipped through the paper for him and extracted the key information.

For some reason, I felt that he was acting a little strange today. He didn't seem to be in a good mood.

I had known Cayden since he was a kid. I remembered the day he became Alpha. I also remembered his father.

Kas and I had always known him well. After his father's death, we had supported him through it.

Something was bothering Cayden. I didn't know why I felt that way, but it wasn't my place to ask. If it was something he wanted me to know, he would tell me.

I got confirmation of the plan from him, and that was all I needed. The rest was up to him.

"Got it, Alpha. I was a little surprised when you said let her go. Generally, you don't say unless you mean it," I said.

He lowered the paper and looked me straight in the eye. His words were frosty. "Isn't death the ultimate freedom for her?"
