Chapter 6 You'll Be Free

My father lied to me. I wasn't sold as a maid.

How stupid I was to believe him! A breeder. What does breeder mean? Pregnant...? No... no...

No matter how hard my life became, no matter how desperate I was, I always prayed that I would find my partner one day and that he would take me away, save me, and love me.

That was my only and last hope in this life, yet they took it away.

Why are they so cruel to me?

"No... please," I begged, at a complete loss for what else to say or do. "I'll work hard. I'll pay back all the money you gave him. Just, please... don't make me a breeder."

The man just sat there in silence, staring at me, and his eyes getting colder by the second.

From the moment he squinted his eyes, I knew he wasn't fond of my impulsiveness.

No doubt, with one strong hand, he could choke me out, easy-peasy.

I got it, keeping quiet and staying far away from this dangerous man was the smart move. But I had to do something to keep my virginity intact.

"I just... I can't... I have to keep my most precious thing for my partner. Please..." I begged again.

He could make me pay off all my debts and make me do any hard labor.

But I absolutely couldn't sell my body to him. My body was sacred. It was my last hope after leaving the Blood Moon pack, my only anchor.

The harsh, cold light in the hospital room was blinding and chilling.

I frantically looked around, but they all stood there silently, staring at me as if they hadn't heard my desperate plea. No one moved, no one spoke.

How could I forget that these people around me were equally ruthless? They were the Blood Moon pack, stone-cold killers loyal only to their Alpha.

Fear engulfed me in an instant. Panic filled my heart. I couldn't stay here. I had to leave right away.

Soon, I struggled to move my body off the bed, my feet touching the ground.

I wanted to run, but the guards quickly grabbed me, and I let out a scream, something I hadn't done in a long time.

"No! Let me go," I shouted.

I was too weak to escape, barely able to stand. My legs gave out, and I collapsed to the floor.

I couldn't save myself.

Tears kept streaming down my face. I looked around, knowing it was impossible but still blindly hoping to find someone to help me.

Then, a hand rested on my shoulder. I turned around to see Jessica, who had quietly come to my side.

She tried to help me up, her eyes looking toward Alpha as she said softly, "Alpha, she needs time. She's been through too much pain today. Any more stress could cause a mental breakdown. And, you've seen it yourself, the long-term abuse has left her body unable to handle the role of a breeder..."

She dared not hold Alpha's gaze for long; her bright eyes quickly lowered, and then she turned to the doctor as if seeking support.

Doll sighed softly, exchanged a glance with Jessica, and said very professionally, "Alpha, excuse me. I still have some test results pending..."

She lowered her voice, glancing my way occasionally, "From what I've seen so far, Ms. Miller is malnourished, severely sleep-deprived, and has suffered a lot of abuse. Some of the internal injuries look old. So, please allow me some time to help her recover physically before considering a healthy pregnancy."

My eyes widened at her words, and my mind started racing with scenarios.

Jessica added, "Yes, she's covered in bruises..." Instantly, Doll chimed in, "Based on my professional opinion, Alpha... I think Ms. Miller needs time to heal. If she doesn't recover properly, I'm afraid it could affect both her and the baby."

Jessica and Doll went on, but I couldn't focus on what they were talking about any longer.

"Jessica, that's enough!" Allen suddenly hissed in a low voice, snapping me back to reality.

I looked up to see Alpha, who had been expressionless but now frowning. His aura darkened the room, making the atmosphere tense as if a storm was about to break.

In truth, Allen wasn't really scolding but protecting Jessica from Dennis's punishment.

"Alpha..." I gripped the edge of the bed, struggling to stand on my weak legs.

I couldn't just watch Jessica get into trouble for defending me.

I took a deep breath and rallied myself. "Please, Alpha... I can repay my father's debt. I swear I will pay it off."

My words successfully diverted his attention from Jessica to me.

His gaze was too terrifying for me to meet it directly, so I looked down.

All I could see were his neatly pressed slacks, perfectly ironed without a single wrinkle, as if devoid of any human touch.

If it weren't for my weak legs, I probably would have already run away in fear.

I told myself there was no escape. Gianna, you have to be strong, there's no turning back.

I struggled to stand up, holding onto the bed. It would be a joke to say I wasn't afraid of him.

I gritted my teeth and tried to keep my voice calm. "Let me pay off my father's debt..." My voice was weak, but my tone was firm. "I'll work day and night, no matter how hard or how long it may take, a year, two years, or even ten. Just tell me how much..."

But he still remained silent, slowly sizing me up, making it impossible to guess what he was thinking.

He glanced at Allen and said casually, "Tell her."

"Ms. Miller," Allen said, "I'm afraid this debt is beyond your means. Your father owes a total of eighty million dollars due to gambling. Dennis has already paid part of your deposit... there's still sixty million left."

Hearing that number, I almost collapsed.

"If the debt isn't paid off in time, your pack will be absorbed by the creditors, and your father will become their slave... Creditors are ruthless. No one ever escapes them alive," Allen went on.

Dennis raised an eyebrow and scoffed coldly, "Sixty million, Ms. Miller, how do you plan to pay that?"

He leaned down, gripping my chin, a hint of disdain playing at the corner of his mouth. "By washing clothes or doing dishes?"

I had nothing to say. Even if I worked here 24/7 for a hundred years, I couldn't repay the debt.

But I didn't understand why they chose me. Dennis saw through me and said bluntly, "The child of the Blood Moon pack's leader must have the strongest bloodline combination, and you happen to have the leader's bloodline."

He added coldly, "Finding a woman is easy for me, no need for coercion or bribery, and certainly no need for heroically saving damsels in distress. There are plenty who have their eyes on me, but only you're clean-cut and simple, perfect for being my breeder."

It explained why they'd pay big bucks to pick me, surely not because I was too charming and made the Alpha fall for me at first sight. Self-awareness was something I never lacked.

To him, I was just a breeder, a disposable tool.

No Alpha would let their beloved daughter suffer like this, but my father did. How laughable.

I thought my old home was already hell, but I didn't expect to fall from one hell into another.

"Of course," he said with a smile, pressing his fingers against my lips. "You can leave, watching your pack be wiped out, hundreds of people killed. Can you handle that? To save the world or to live ever happily after alone," he paused slightly, "it's your choice."

I struggled painfully inside, familiar faces from the wolf tribe constantly flashing in my mind. Although my stepmother and father were bad to me, those innocent people hadn't done anything wrong.

How could I just watch them die? But the thought of the orders I was about to face filled me with fear and reluctance.

I took a deep breath. If I had no real choice, if this was the only way, I could only grit my teeth and go on.

Before he pulled the door open to leave, he gave Doll an order, "You've got three weeks."

So, that was my deadline.

I looked at his back, asking, "What happens to me after the baby is born?"

Dennis paused but didn't turn around. After a brief silence, he said calmly, "You'll be free."
