Trembling, I stood there frozen. A cold feeling of dread crawled across my chest as I realized what a horrible mistake I'd made. I shouldn't have come to work here. It's what led me to meet these dangerous people.
The boss, just threatened my life, for crying out loud. Now, I had to obey him at all costs. I waited for more demands as his heavy presence remained, but he didn't speak. Instead, he seemed satisfied for now, as he walked out the door, glancing at his phone.
My heart was still pounding from him pinning me up against the wall. And what was that about me being all his? Squeezing my eyes shut, I wished all of this could go away. Why oh why did I think it was a good idea to work here?
Heaving an exhale in utter frustration, I smoothed my hair, telling myself it's too late for regrets. I can't turn back time. Nothing to do now but deal with what I can control. Hopefully, giving him a phony number would throw him off my trail.
