Chapter 28: Conversations and Interventions

“Why would Douglas even want my parents dead? What possible motive could he have? I didn’t get it at first, but then it struck me,” I looked at him as I revealed the truth. “This has something to do with my dad’s cases, doesn’t it?” I asked Justin. He nodded. And then, he finally told me his side of the story.

“About six years ago, your father had gotten a case. It was only after he agreed to defend this man that your father realized that the defendant was involved with an underground mafia that was part of drug trafficking.”

He stopped and took a sip of his coffee, but I knew what was next. “Dad went ahead and investigated them, didn’t he?”
