Chapter 34: All I Really Want

“We have to hurry,” he told me. Where did he get his hands on those clothes? When did he even hatch up this plan? I stood up with him as he pulled me upright. “We need to leave, now.”

“Did you drive here?”

Justin nodded at me. “It’s just around the corner. I couldn’t risk driving to the mansion. I’m sorry you’ll have to walk on your bad leg.”

“Justin,” I said. “You saved my life. Don’t apologize. Take me home,” I begged him. “Please.”

The walk to the car was cold and unpredictable. I half expected to be slammed into some trees and shot in the head for defying Douglas. I knew he was capable of murder, especially if he found Justin. There was no telling what he’d do. Did Douglas know about Justin? Did he know they were practically twins? When Justin slowed down so we could walk at a comfortable pace, I rushed us. “Hurry,” I said. “I see the car.”
