Chapter 28: Blooming Scent Cloud

I was just looking at myself in the mirror when my phone rang. I fumbled momentarily as I pulled it out of my purse before I read the screen and saw it was Daniel.

“Hey, what’s up?” I asked into the phone.

Daniel’s voice was teasing, which was the tone he took about ninety percent of the time when talking to me. “I’m already downstairs to give you a ride, Squirt. Why are you acting like you’re surprised that I’m calling?”

I rolled my eyes but hurried to get ready so that I could meet Daniel downstairs. I grabbed a fur-lined jacket and handbag before walking quickly down the stairs.

Daniel looked up at me, his teasing smirk dropping slightly when I approached him. I caught him looking down at my outfit. I hadn’t put on my jacket yet, so my tight crystal blue dress was visible. It was the color of the ocean since this party was cruise-themed. Daniel was in a similar blue-colored suit. I giggled a bit since it looked like we were going to prom together.
