“Nicole doesn’t know how fortunate she is.”


I turned to face Charlotte, who was glowering after Nicole retreated. “How so?” I asked, although I could think of several reasons, Byron being hundreds of them. 


Charlotte shook her head, her lips tight with annoyance. “She doesn’t deserve to have you as a future sister-in-law. Anyone else in your place would have already destroyed her. You are much too nice for your own good.”


I felt my shoulders slump as I mulled over Charlotte’s words. It was true that Nicole was just too jealous to the point of being obnoxious. I don’t even do anything with Byron. I have been avoiding him more than ever, hoping to get the witch off my back, but it doesn’t appear to be working. 


She gets set off by Byron coming up to me and talking to me, which is obviously out of my control.
