*Aryanna*
Darren’s face stayed blank, an expression so smooth it was unnatural. He looked from Lisa to me, his hand falling from mine. There was no anger, no betrayal, no hint of anything. His eyes were cold and impossible to read. Was he furious with me or just taking stock of my lies, calculating how much damage I’d done?
Finally, he looked back at Lisa. “Lisa.” He said it with an edge so sharp it made me shiver. The word hung for a moment, and her name sounded more like a reprimand. “Whatever you’re trying to pull here…” He let out a breath, short and clipped like he was forcing himself to keep calm. “It’s embarrassing.”
Lisa’s face tightened, red blotching her cheeks. She swallowed but didn’t back down. “Darren, I’m telling the truth!” Her voice cracked as she jabbed a finger at the screen where my old life was displayed in black and white. “Look at it! This is proof! Look at her!” Her finger pointed to me, trembling. “She’s not Aryanna Kyle. She’s Charline Lambert!”
