VANISHING HOTEL ROOM

ORIGIN: France in the continent of Europe.

This urban legend is said to have taken place in the late 19th or early 20th century.

The most common version involves a woman and her daughter traveling abroad, usually to Paris, for a holiday.

After a long journey, they check into a luxurious hotel.

The mother begins feeling ill, so the daughter seeks help from a local doctor.

When she returns, the hotel staff claim to have no knowledge of her or her mother.

The room they checked into appears different, with no trace of their belongings.

The daughter, desperate and confused, is treated as if she is insane.

No one believes her story, and she is eventually forced to leave, never finding her mother.

Later, she learns the truth— her mother had died from a deadly disease, and the hotel had covered it up to avoid scaring guests and damaging their reputation.

The room had been quickly cleaned and redecorated to erase any evidence that they were ever there.

This tale makes one realise how easily reality can shift, leaving someone questioning their sanity, especially when no else believes you.
