MOTHMAN

ORIGIN: West Virginia, USA

The Mothman is an urban legend that emerged from the small town of Point Pleasant, West Virginia, USA, in the late 1960s.

This mysterious creature is described as a human like figure with massive wings, glowing red eyes, and a height of seven feet there about.

People who have seen it say it can fly effortlessly and is often seen hovering over isolated areas or chasing cars at high speeds.

The Mothman's presence is frequently associated with dread, misfortune, and even death.

The legend began in November 1966, when two young couples reported seeing a large, winged creature with glowing red eyes near an abandoned TNT factory on the outskirts of town.

Over the next year, dozens of residents claimed to have encountered the eerie being.

Some described it as a harbinger of doom;

This is because each time the Mothman is seen bad tragedies happen sometime later.

One of such tragedies was the Silver Bridge Collapse on December 15, 1967, which killed 46 people.

The Mothman is often seen as either a supernatural entity or an alien being.

Several skeptics argue it may have been a large bird, such as a sandhill crane, but the fear it brought left a permanent mark on Point Pleasant.

The legend still lives, inspiring books and movies, even…

An annual Mothman Festival celebrating this strange creature.
