VAMPIRES OF HIGHGATE CEMETERY

ORIGIN: London, England.

The Vampires of Highgate Cemetery is one of the most famous urban legends to come from London, England, particularly in the 1960s and 1970s.

As the legend goes, Highgate Cemetery, known for its gothic architecture, sprawling tombstones, and overgrown foliage, became the setting for a tale of a supernatural blood-sucking creature.

It all began when visitors to the cemetery said they saw a tall, dark figure with glowing red eyes just among the graves.

Then dead animals were discovered with their throats slashed and blood drained, making people spread rumors of a vampire.

The story reached a rough point when two local men, David Farrant and Sean Manchester, both self-proclaimed occultists, claimed to have met the vampire.

Manchester even vowed to track it down and destroy it.

But David swore it would be him that would catch the creature.

Their rivalry led to large vampire hunts in the cemetery, with groups of people breaking into tombs, driving stakes through coffins, and even setting bodies on fire.

Despite no concrete evidence, the legend still lived, and Highgate Cemetery became a hotspot for paranormal enthusiasts.
