STONE MAN OF PATAPSCO

ORIGIN: Maryland.

The Stone Man of Patapsco is an urban legend that came from the dense, forests surrounding the Patapsco Valley State Park in Maryland.

For generations, locals have said tales about a hulk like figure made entirely of stone, who roams the wooded trails and rocky paths of the region.

This being is possess great strength, with skin like rough granite and eyes that glow faintly in the dark.

According to the legend, the Stone Man is believed to be the result of a cursed stonemason who worked in the quarries along the Patapsco River during the 19th century.

The man, driven by greed and cruelty, mistreated his workers and thus, defiled the land.

As punishment, he was transformed into a living statue, condemned to wander the forest till the end of time.

Hikers and campers have reported strange things— hearing heavy footsteps crunching on gravel, the feeling of being watched, and, on rare occasions, said they caught glimpses of a massive humanoid figure standing in between boulders and trees.

Some say the Stone Man is a protector of the forest, while others refuse, saying he is an evil being seeking revenge on trespassers.

And his stone like presence, especially his very silent behaviour—unlike other urban legendary beings—-, has continued to input fear and weirdly 'fascination' among those who actually go ahead to dare exploring Patapsco's wilderness.
