WHITE WITCH OF ROSE HALL

ORIGIN: Jamaica.

In grand Rose Hall Great House near Montego Bay, the tale starts with a woman, Annie Palmer, whose beauty was more than anything imagined, except her cruelty.

Annie was born in Haiti and learned voodoo practices from her nanny.

She later moved to Jamaica and married John Palmer, the owner of Rose Hall.

Annie quickly gained a scary reputation due to the fact that she murdered her husband, along with the two other men she married after his death.

Each husband was killed in a heartless manner— one was poisoned, another was strangled, and the third husband had his head bashed in.

Annie was also rumored to have taken enslaved men as lovers, only to kill them when she tired of them.

Her ways made her feared by the enslaved people, who believed she practiced dark magic and could summon spirits.

Eventually, Annie's own cruelty led to her downfall.

She was killed by a slave named Takoo, who used Annie's own voodoo magic against her.

However, even in death, Annie's spirit still haunts Rose Hall.

Often visitors say they heard the sound of footsteps, felt several cold spots, and saw a woman in white roaming the halls.

Some claim her ghost can still be seen staring from the balcony.

Whether it is a fact or just fiction, this story has made Rose Hall one of the Caribbean's most haunted places.
