The Marvel Universe is fraught with challenges and disasters. Without someone to take charge, individuals like Poseidon or Thanos will only become more prevalent.
Han Yu, now living here, couldn't ignore these major events. However, it wasn't practical to run around solving every invasion personally. He didn't have the time or energy. Instead of acting alone, it made more sense to build a force capable of handling such threats.
Whenever trouble arose, he could let the army take action while he relaxed in the background.
"If it's something you're creating, we Asgardians definitely want to be involved," Thor said. "With my strength, I should be qualified to serve as a general, right?"
Han Yu chuckled and nodded. If it had been the old Thor, he might have hesitated. But the current Thor had proven himself worthy.
Thor was now far more mature and considerably more powerful compared to his past self. Joining the Green Lantern Corps wouldn't be an issue.
"What about me? I want in too! But I don't want to be a deputy. I want to be a general as well!" Loki chimed in.
"Why don't you focus on improving your strength first? You're a mage, yet you're always stabbing people with daggers. Your mother didn't teach you all that magic for nothing," Hela retorted mercilessly.
Loki awkwardly laughed, scratching his head. "Daggers just feel right in my hands. But if you insist, I can switch to magic."
Hearing this, Han Yu smiled and said, "Of course you can."
Han Yu wasn't recruiting people recklessly. To join the Green Lantern Corps and become a sub-general, the primary criterion was emotional control. Combat strength was a secondary consideration.
Once someone joined the Green Lantern Corps, their combat power would naturally increase. However, having great power came with responsibilities. Members had to manage their inner desires, or Han Yu might need to step in and deal with those who lost control, which would be quite troublesome.
During Asgard's darkest hours, Loki had stood by Thor's side, supporting him. Though he used to trick Thor often, in times of Asgard's survival crisis, Loki had shown a different side of himself.
He used to avoid admitting it, but now Loki could confidently declare, "I am Odin's son, a prince of Asgard."
With this newfound acceptance, Loki was qualified to join the Green Lantern Corps.
Han Yu smiled at Loki and said, "You really should focus on mastering your magic. Using near-max-level magical talent for close combat is quite something."
Loki, embarrassed again, nodded in agreement.
"Here, take these."
Han Yu raised his hand, conjuring two Green Lantern rings in his palm. He handed them to Thor and Loki, explaining, "These rings allow us to communicate across the universe without any distance limitations. You can freely use the energy within them, as they're directly connected to me. As long as I'm alive, their energy will never deplete."
"Is it really that powerful?" Loki carefully examined the ring before quickly slipping it onto his finger.
He had witnessed Han Yu's abilities with the ring before and had been intrigued. But Han Yu's strength was too overwhelming for Loki to entertain any ulterior motives.
Han Yu continued, "Alright, now that this is settled, I should get going. The upcoming war might affect Earth, so I need to prepare defenses there to prevent any major catastrophes. I also need to finalize the design of our corps' standard armor. We need a unified look—having everyone in mismatched colors would be chaotic when our numbers grow."
Hela stepped forward, shook Han Yu's hand, and said, "If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to reach out to us in Asgard. We owe you a great debt."
Han Yu smiled, nodded without excessive formality, and pulled Gamora—who was engrossed in a mobile game—alongside him. He opened a portal to his shop and disappeared through it.
In Another Part of the Universe
A colossal interstellar battleship, stretching thousands of meters, floated in the void of space. Its enormous cannons were menacing, each projectile capable of obliterating an entire planet with ease.
Onboard the ship, Poseidon was speaking to a figure seated on a golden throne. "That was close. I don't know where they found that girl, but she was absurdly strong. She snapped my trident in half and ate it. Then there was an Earthling wielding Asgard's Stormbreaker, who sliced off my arm without hesitation."
Several grotesque aliens surrounded Poseidon, tending to his wounds. One alien accidentally caused him pain, and Poseidon, scowling, lashed out with a powerful strike. The alien was sent flying, coughing up blood before dying on the spot.
"Useless! Can't even bandage a wound properly!"
Poseidon's face darkened. The battle had been going smoothly until it wasn't. Unexpected intrusions had completely disrupted his plans, and one of those intruders had even severed his arm.
He had never suffered such a humiliating defeat and was now seething with anger.
The remaining aliens, terrified by their comrade's fate, trembled as they worked more cautiously, their hands shaking.
"This is on you for underestimating them," a man's voice interrupted. The speaker stepped down from the golden throne as he continued, "I warned you. If they're going to such lengths just to get Loki out, there must be a larger plan at play. But you didn't listen. You can't blame anyone but yourself."
The speaker was none other than Thanos.
Poseidon sneered, unconvinced. "When I return to Vanaheim, I'll lead an army back here and wipe Asgard off the map next time!"
Thanos chuckled, his laugh carrying a chilling undertone. "You're not going back."
"What do you mean?" Poseidon frowned, his eyes narrowing at Thanos. The ominous look on Thanos's face sent a shiver down his spine.
Raising a hand, Thanos activated a screen showing a video feed. It displayed Vanaheim in ruins, its once-majestic cities reduced to rubble.
"I attacked Vanaheim while you were busy waging war against Asgard," Thanos said casually.
Poseidon's expression froze as he watched the devastation unfold. His mouth fell open, and when he finally spoke, his voice cracked with disbelief and despair.
"Why? Why would you do this? Aren't we on the same side?"
Thanos unsheathed his double-edged blade, his fingers tracing its edge as he lowered his gaze. Slowly, he approached Poseidon, speaking with chilling indifference. "No reason. I just thought it would be fun. Watching them scramble for survival is quite entertaining."
Poseidon, sensing the danger, tried to rise, but clamps suddenly emerged from the chair, locking his waist, arms, and legs in place.
No matter how much he struggled, the restraints held firm. They appeared to be specially designed for imprisoning beings of great power, constructed from materials far stronger than ordinary metal.
"Let me go, you bastard!" Poseidon screamed, panic setting in as Thanos drew closer. Gone was the haughty deity—he now shrieked in terror. But Thanos didn't stop, his eyes gleaming with sadistic glee.
Standing before Poseidon, Thanos smirked coldly, raising his massive blade. Without hesitation, he swung it down, severing Poseidon's head in one clean motion.
In an instant, Poseidon was dead, his body lifeless and his head rolling away.
