Chapter 2 New Colleague

Ye Shikai heard these words, feeling like a bucket of cold water had been poured from his head down to his feet, his heart chilling through. Could this father-daughter pair be playing him? Ye Shikai didn't consider himself particularly handsome, but his resolute appearance was still "quite good-looking." Unexpectedly, Su Qingyu rejected him so directly. Most importantly, he was invited by Su Pengzhan, yet he was given the cold shoulder by Su Qingyu. What was going on?

To be honest, with Su Qingyu's beauty, she could be called an exceptionally beautiful woman. Moreover, she wasn't just a pretty face; she also managed a large corporation. Women with such a combination of beauty and talent were few and far between. The men who could catch her eye were likely even rarer. Ye Shikai had just arrived and Su Qingyu obviously didn't know about his "Netherworld King" identity, so it was natural for her to look down on him.

Regardless, now that he had returned, Ye Shikai wasn't willing to just turn around and leave so easily.

The car drove into a residential area filled with villas, each looking quite valuable. Ye Shikai was uninterested; when it came to wealth, with Netherworld Palace's resources, even building a villa out of gold and silver would be no issue.

Upon arriving home, he saw a middle-aged woman cooking in the kitchen. She was a nanny hired by Su Qingyu, called "Nanny Wu." It seemed she had known Su Pengzhan's family for a long time, which is why Su Pengzhan trusted Nanny Wu to take care of Su Qingyu.

"Hello, Nanny Wu," Ye Shikai said with a smile, knowing that Nanny Wu was a straightforward person. With his insight into people, he could guess her character from just one glance. Additionally, to satisfy Su Qingyu, the nanny must surely be meticulous in every detail.

"Miss, young master, lunch is ready. Please come and eat," Nanny Wu brought out the dishes from the kitchen. Knowing that Ye Shikai was visiting today, she had specially prepared a feast to welcome him. Ye Shikai hadn't eaten anything on his way to Huaxia and was famished. Nanny Wu was pleased to see Ye Shikai's hungry look, while Su Qingyu looked at him with disdain, thinking he lacked manners and decorum.

Watching Ye Shikai's exaggerated way of eating, Su Qingyu couldn't hold back anymore, "Can you mind your manners at the table? It's not like anyone is fighting with you over the food."

"Cough, sorry, I'm really quite hungry. I wanted to get something to eat after getting off the plane, but then you arrived," Ye Shikai wiped his mouth, indeed looking quite disheveled. However, Su Qingyu wasn't so "understanding"; she had already been resisting this arranged marriage, so naturally, she vented her anger on Ye Shikai. She didn't know about Ye Shikai's identity and thought he was just a man who had returned from overseas to find work, lacking in ability and education, and only got the engagement because of the relationship between their fathers. Why should such a man deserve her? Seeing his manners, he must lack upbringing, too.

"As long as the young master likes it," Nanny Wu hurriedly stepped in to alleviate Ye Shikai's embarrassment.

After the meal, Su Qingyu went upstairs and half an hour later, she emerged dressed in professional attire, projecting the image of a capable businesswoman. Ye Shikai was once again astonished by this woman who looked beautiful in any attire.

"I'm going to work now. You can stay at home or go out," Su Qingyu said coldly, glancing at Ye Shikai.

Ye Shikai approached Su Qingyu, somewhat embarrassedly saying, "Wife, could I borrow some money?" He had just arrived in Huaxia and didn't bring much cash with him; now he only had a few dozen yuan left in his pocket. After hearing this, Su Qingyu couldn't help but become irritated. How could such a pathetic man be worthy of her.

"You eat mine, use mine, and now you want money? Find a job if you need money," Su Qingyu said without turning back, leaving a helpless Ye Shikai behind.

Walking on the street, Ye Shikai went from one interview to another with his resume. Although he didn't like it, he had no choice; with his wife not giving him any money, he still needed to earn it himself. Thinking about this, Ye Shikai felt very helpless, especially since he hadn't even finished high school. Now, with university graduates everywhere, who would hire him?

With a wry smile, he approached a thirty-story building—the Tianya Group was located inside this building. After hesitating for a long time, Ye Shikai still went in and proceeded to the Tianya Group's recruitment department to submit his resume.

"Ye Shikai, come in for an interview."

A single sentence broke Ye Shikai's train of thought. An interview so soon? He had come just to try his luck, and unexpectedly, he got in for an interview. Ye Shikai walked into the room and saw three beautiful women as the interviewers, all with high levels of attractiveness.

"Lan, what do you think about this guy? He's not going to be flirting in our public relations department, right?" The beauty on the left said to the woman in the middle, her tone filled with a hint of respect. It was clear that the woman in the middle was the leader.

"Let's take a look first." Having said that, the woman in the middle turned her head to look at Ye Shikai.

"Hello, my name is An Lan, and I am the head of the Public Relations Department at Tianya Group." Her tone was somewhat indifferent, with an air of superiority.

"Hello, my name is Ye Shikai." Ye Shikai nodded slightly, acknowledging her.

"Are you here to apply for a position in the PR department, and do you have any prior work experience?"

"Uh, no."

"Do you have any understanding of our company's operational direction and situation?"

"Not really."

An Lan became somewhat irritated; how could someone dare to apply without even knowing what our company does, wasn't this just toying with us? Suppressing the anger in her heart, An Lan maintained a calm facade, "Our group primarily sells luxury items, focusing on jade, diamond rings, and high-end jewelry. Your resume says you are proficient in three languages; I hope it's not just a fabrication."

"Of course not, I can really speak them."

An Lan looked at Ye Shikai with skepticism. Despite his claim, she did not quite believe him and passed a few sheets of paper from the desk to him, "Here are two tests. You only need to score 70 to pass. I'll give you one hour."

"Just 70 points? Shouldn't it be at least 90?"

An hour later...

"Lan, come look! That Ye Shikai is amazing." A girl ran into An Lan's office and handed her two test papers – a hundred percent, two full hundreds. Now it was An Lan's turn to be surprised. She had created the tests herself, and they were always kept with her; the exam was monitored throughout, so cheating was impossible, especially the last few questions, which involved the most advanced grammar. She was curious about how this ordinary-looking young man had accomplished this, making her more intrigued about Ye Shikai's mystique.

Returning to the interview room, An Lan asked Ye Shikai several questions about luxury goods, which, of course, were child's play for him. When it came to languages, Ye Shikai was completely at ease.

An Lan watched Ye Shikai answer questions effortlessly and with humor; clearly, he was very familiar with these topics, almost as if he had them all at home, which further piqued An Lan's curiosity about him.

"The last question, what are your educational qualifications?"

"Educational qualifications? I have a high school diploma."

"What? Just a high school graduate?" An Lan was surprised as she looked at the young man in front of her, wondering if he was a dark horse in disguise. Despite her doubts, considering Ye Shikai's professional competence for the job, An Lan decided to hire him. After all, the PR department relied on ability and should not only consider academic qualifications.

"Congratulations, you have been hired by our group. We offer a monthly salary of six thousand yuan, with a bonus at the end of the year. It's almost time to finish work for the day. Go to the logistics department to get your office supplies and then meet your colleagues. You will officially start work at 8 AM tomorrow."

"Understood, thank you, Mr. An." Ye Shikai's lips curled into a slight smile; it seemed there was something gained today after all. After speaking, Ye Shikai proceeded to the Public Relations Department, but the moment he walked in, he was taken aback.
