Nathan was standing by the window in Sarah's apartment, his back towards her. Sarah was sitting at the edge of the couch, gazing at the back view of Nathan. Soft music that was playing seemed to raise the tension in the room
Finally, Nathan turned his face to her, his face was melancholy. "Sarah, we need to settle this once and for all. And this is the high time for that."
"Settle what, I asked you?", Sarah asked, her voice tone harsh.
"I am tired of his game and lies. You know these kids belong to me".
She sighed, her voice trembling slightly. "Nathan, I've told you already. You're being unreasonable. The children are Michael's. This madness has to stop."
"Obsession?" He laughed sarcastically, "Don't ever try to play on my intelligence, Sarah. You and I know the kids belong to me."
"Nathan, you are not their father, " Sarah raised her voice. Her hands clenched at her sides. "You don't have any proof, Nathan. This is all in your head. What you're doing is dangerous! And, it can land you in jail"
Nathan raised an eyebrow; he brought out his handphone and played the recorded voice note of Sarah to her.
Sarah:
"It's been a year that I and my husband married but we still have no child. I agreed to marry him because he is likely to be the next chairman of the company he is working with. I know you have been making a Romantic advance to me, but I don't want to jilt on Michael. But now for the sake of me giving birth, I am in for your proposal.
But, as soon as I am pregnant, I will end it."
"Can you hear by yourself?" Nathan asked. Sarah became speechless; she never thought Nathan could be smart enough to record her voice.
"That doesn't mean you got me pregnant," Sarah said, her voice firm and bold.
"You got pregnant two months after we started mating, what evidence do I need to confirm that to you?" Michael asked.
Sarah didn't want to continue the argument, she knew Nathan was desperate to take it to any lengths.
"Okay, what do you want now?" She asked him.
"I want my kids back to me. Though, Michael is my friend and my client too, but I can't continue doing hide and seek with you. Clara and Clement are my hope as children". Nathan's wife was kidnapped when she was six months pregnant. Ever since then, he chose not to remarry.
"Give me time, I can't rush this. Michael is becoming suspicious about the whole thing already." Sarah, voice calm.
"Sarah, I don't bloody care," He said, raising his voice at Sarah. He turned toward the window and back to Sarah.
"Nathan, voice recording is not the same as the DNA tests. Medical test is the only proof to justify your claim." Sarah said softly.
"I am ready for that if that is what you want," Nathan objected sharply.
"Nathan, don't let us handle this with force. We have many things to protect her," she placed her left hand on his back.
Nathan felt a warm sensation all over his body; he gently turned over to Sarah. He drew her closer, and before Sarah would say 'No,' His lips had locked with hers.
Sarah couldn't resist instantly; Nathan seemed to have known parts of her body that led her on.
"Stop, Nathan!" She finally succeeded in pushing him away from her. "What are you doing, you want to rape me?".
"Rape?" He asked in dismay. "So if that is not rape, what is it?" Sarah asked in disappointment.
"Nathan, nothing like what you are trying to do can't happen between us again; the next time you try such a thing with me, you will regret it." Her heart raced as she spoke firmly to him.
"I am sorry, I am just... I just want to have you again. I seem to miss you," Nathan said with emotion. "You want to have me, so you can be claiming any child I have afterward, right? Even if it's a year after?" He almost slapped Nathan, her voice vibrating in anger towards him.
"Come and take your leave, Now!". Sarah said, "Before I go, when should I be expecting my kids?" He said, his voice soft. "You have no kids here, not after you want to force yourself on me".
"I will give you five working days to find a way of returning my children to me. After those five days, I will not hesitate to let out all we have been covering ".
Sarah hissed, "Do your worst." Nathan smoothed his shirt and walked towards the door.
Nathan walked out of Sarah's apartment with a threat to expose her if she failed to bring the kids to him as their true father.
Sarah picked up her phone to call a friend.
Phone ring:
"Hello, Sarah," a cooing voice responded on the other end.
"Hello friend, Nathan just left here threatening me about my kids."
"Threat?" The person asked.
"Yes, he said the kids belong to him, and it's high time I bring the kids to him as their true father."
"That is serious, what evidence does he have to be putting such a claim to you?"
Sarah exhaled deeply. "I told you we had some fun a couple of times, but the children don't belong to him. They belong to Michael."
"I remembered you told me something of such a few years back,"
"What should I do now? I am confused. Nathan is desperate." Sarah's heart raced.
"We need to have time and talk in person. When can we hang out and talk ?"
Sarah looked at the clock. Trying to scan through her schedule.
"I will check my schedule for the weekend and get back to you. Thank you, friend."
"You are welcome, Sarah; I will be expecting your call."
Sarah hung up the call, and a wave of relief blew on her.
She felt hope had finally come to shut up Nathan completely. After all his claim is not true.
