William suddenly realized something was amiss. His face froze and he hastily released Rossa, as if he'd touched a burning coal.

"Mother... it's not what it seems. Rossa lost her parents when she was young and her situation is unfortunate. I've always thought of her as a younger sister..."

Rossa, still smarting from my earlier insult, was now fuming. She clenched her jaw and gestured towards my eight younger brothers, who stood faithfully behind me like personal guards. With biting sarcasm, she remarked,

"Dana, you certainly know how to make an entrance. Bringing eight men to your mother-in-law's birthday party for a grand show. But where's Mr. William? Has he been left out?"

I chuckled softly and regarded William with curiosity.

"Indeed, dear. What do you think? Where should I place you?"
