Lady Jiang 1

The palace Su Lanyi would now be staying in was quite bigger compared to the outer house, but it was still old and dusty.

Sighing, she said to Mailing, "Quick, go and gather all the maids and male workers. We are going to have a slight meeting."

She instructed, and Mailing nodded and did as instructed.

Soon, the entire courtyard was filled with the maids as Xiaoyu brought a chair for Su Lanyi, and she sat before them all.

"Now everyone, as you are all aware, we are now going to be staying here at the Pond Residence. I want you all to do as I have instructed. The maids in charge of cleaning should make sure the entire residence is sparkling clean before tomorrow. I want all dust and dirt taken care of. And the chefs should prepare the meal for tonight and serve my husband and me in the dining hall."

She said, and they all nodded, but Su Lanyi had a frown all over her face.

The population of the maids, cooks, and male servants wasn't even that much. There were only 10 to 15 maids and 7 to 10 male workers. Even the cooks were only two.

It was like this in her past life. Because Jiang Wei was not favored, he didn't even have anyone to take care of him.

His monthly stipend was all taken away and cut short by his father's wife, leaving him without even a penny.

If not for Su Lanyi, he wouldn't even have food to eat.

She was from a rich family; her father was one of the emperor's ministers. Part of her dowry, she used to fend for herself, and from her home, she was sent some maids and chefs.

But this time, things would be different. She was going to fight for what rightfully belonged to her and her husband. Enough of keeping quiet and suffering.

Soon, her dowry money would be exhausted. What then would they do?

"You may all leave now!" she sent them away as she stood up, turning to Mailing and Xiaoyu, "You both should get ready… tomorrow we will pay Lady Jiang a visit."

Saying that, she went inside.

That same night, Jiang Wei was in his room when a bunch of maids arrived, saying they were there to clean.

He was taken by surprise as he just nodded, and they entered. Soon after, Su Lanyi appeared.

With her long black hair glowing, her green eyes seemed to flicker in the soft moonlight glow.

She was now dressed in a purple dress, looking so beautiful Jiang Wei couldn't take his eyes off her.

Coughing slightly, he tried to hide his face, which was already turning red. "Why are you here?"

Folding her hands, Su Lanyi responded, "You always seem to like asking me that question. Well, I am here to take my husband for dinner. The food is ready, let's go eat."

She said, not waiting for his reply as she grabbed the handle of his wheelchair, taking him straight to the dining hall.

Upon arriving, she placed Jiang Wei near the table where he could be comfortable before going to take her seat.

The table was filled with so many delicacies. She made sure the chefs made a big meal, knowing how Jiang Wei would still be feeling hungry.

Fortunately, he didn't ask any questions and just ate obediently.

The only thing between them was the sound of their chopsticks and the beautiful aroma of the meal.

Jiang Wei had to say that it was the first time they were sharing a meal with one another.

Soon, they were done, and the maids came to clear the table. Looking at Jiang Wei, Su Lanyi then revealed, "I've been thinking, why stay in such an old palace? Why don't we stay in a better one instead?"

She asked, as Jiang Wei immediately frowned, refusing her bluntly, "No."

"No? What do you mean by no? This palace is old… why not stay in a better place than this?"

But Jiang Wei still refused, "This palace was once my mother's… I won't stay anywhere else but here."

He said, his words sinking in. Su Lanyi suddenly remembered. From her few years of being with Jiang Wei, she knew that the only person he loved more than anything was his mother.

She didn't get to meet his mother because she passed away when Jiang Wei was just 10, but according to what she heard and remembered, Jiang Wei's mother was once a female physician who worked in the barracks during the war.

That was when his father met her and fell for her. He later brought her into his mansion, but she died years later due to an illness. The Pond Residence was where she lived while she was alive.

Noticing how Jiang Wei's mood changed immediately, Su Lanyi felt bad for thinking about abandoning the palace.

"I-I-I was wrong. I shouldn't have said that… the palace is still so beautiful. It's just a little old and run down. I'll renovate it, but I'll need your permission for that."

She smiled, as Jiang Wei just turned around, ready to leave.

"Do whatever you please," and with that, he left as Su Lanyi just sighed.

Now she would have to renovate the residence, but she was too broke for that.

"It seems I'll really need to pay Lady Jiang a visit."
