Chitrangada wept silently in her room, unaware of how sleep had overtaken her. A profound stillness settled over the chamber as she lay there, consumed by grief. Abhiraj, driven by an inexplicable urge, decided to enter her room. However, as he reached the door, he found it locked from within. Realizing that Chitrangada must be asleep, he chose not to disturb her and proceeded to the office.
At the office,
Avinash, Agastya, and Ranvijay were already present. Agastya approached Abhiraj, his expression grave. "The doctor wishes to speak with you regarding Aakansha's health," he said.
Though Abhiraj was Agastya's superior, their relationship was amicable. Agastya was a dedicated and conscientious employee, but his anger, when it surfaced, was always directed towards Mahira. He harbored a deep-seated resentment towards her, finding a perverse satisfaction in witnessing her tears and pleas for pity.
Just then, Mitra entered the office. Avinash, upon seeing her, grimaced and muttered under his breath, "Witch." Mitra, overhearing him, glared at him with indignation. Ranvijay, ever the provocateur, teased them, declaring, "Love is in the air, just like COVID-19." Avinash and Mitra exchanged furious glances, glaring at Ranvijay. Though usually taciturn, Ranvijay seemed to derive amusement from tormenting them.
Mitra greeted Abhiraj warmly, and he returned her greeting with a smile. Suddenly, a ball struck Ranvijay on the head with a forceful thud. Enraged, he frantically searched for the culprit. Avinash, well aware of the source of the mischief, turned to Mitra and accused her, "Why did you bring this troublemaker with you?" Mitra retorted, "Have you no shame? Calling such a sweet and innocent child names? Amisha is truly precious and innocent." Ranvijay, seething, glared towards the entrance, where Amisha, stood watching with a mischievous glint in her eyes. He turned to her, demanding, "Did you do your homework? Why weren't you at school today? And you have a test today! Did you study at all, or will you be writing nonsense again?" Mitra intervened, "Stop it! You two constantly nag her. You're both cruel." Avinash retorted, "Witch, don't defend her. You don't know her yet. She's more dangerous and venomous than a T-Rex, a walking disaster." Soon after, Mitra took Amisha and left for her cabin, their conversation punctuated by hushed whispers about Avinash and Ranvijay.
At the hospital:
Aakansha remained unconscious. Abhiraj visited her bedside, gently kissing her forehead. The doctor addressed him, "Mr. Rajput, the medication appears to be showing positive effects on your sister's body. With luck, she may regain consciousness within two to three weeks." A glimmer of hope flickered in Abhiraj's eyes, but the doctor's next words extinguished it. "However, her cognitive abilities may be impaired, similar to a child's. This may not be permanent, but it could take up to a year for her to recover fully." A wave of despair washed over Abhiraj.
He returned to his villa, his mind heavy with grief. Today, he felt neither anger nor sadness, only a profound emptiness. As he entered the villa, his eyes searched for Chitrangada. When he couldn't find her, a strange unease settled over him. He remembered that she might be in the kitchen. He checked, and found that the food was already prepared. He realized that Chitrangada had cooked for him, but he felt no inclination to join her. He went directly to his room, finding the door open.
Chitrangada lay on the cold floor, curled up like a child. October had arrived, and a chill was in the air. He felt a pang of guilt as he saw the marks of his harsh treatment on her body. Without hesitation, he lifted her into his arms, carried her to the bed, and covered her with a blanket. He watched her for a while, his heart aching. He reached out to touch her forehead, but withdrew his hand. And murmured
" khas ki tum meri behen akansha ki halat ki zimmedar na hoti toh aaj tumhein pakka apne dil ki rani bana ke rakhta koi bewkuf hi hoga jo iss masumiyat ko nazarandaz karega"
And with a very heavy heart he left the room.
He left the room and went to Aakansha's room, where he began to play the piano. The melancholic music mirrored the turmoil within him. Tears streamed down his face, remembering the music his mother used to play. Grief consumed him as he thought of his parents, wondering if their presence might have prevented Aakansha's tragedy and spared Chitrangada such pain.
But Abhiraj was powerless to change the past. Overcome with sorrow, he fell asleep on the floor of Aakansha's room. Around 1:00 AM, someone entered the room. Seeing Abhiraj lying on the floor, a look of concern crossed her face. It was Chitrangada. She felt a pang of sympathy for him and gently tried to lift him onto the bed. But Abhiraj was heavy, and she struggled. As she fumbled, she lost her balance and fell onto him. Abhiraj, sound asleep, instinctively wrapped his arms around her. Chitrangada lay there, lost in thought.
" Kis tarah ke admi hain yeh?? pata nahi kabhi haad se zyada pyar karte hain toh kabhi haad se zyada nafrat"
Soon, sleep overcame her, and she drifted off to sleep in his embrace
Next morning
Chitrangada was still sleeping soundly, nestled against Abhiraj's chest. A soft light filtered into the room from the balcony, awakening Abhiraj. As his eyes opened, his gaze immediately fell upon Chitrangada, who looked incredibly peaceful. Her face radiated an innocent beauty, resembling that of a child. While many often frowned upon dusky complexions, Chitrangada seemed to have been blessed by it. She looked utterly angelic. Abhiraj had never seen a more beautiful or innocent girl.
Chitrangada stirred in her sleep, disturbed by Abhiraj's gaze. She opened her eyes to find him watching her intently, and the memory of his harsh treatment flooded her. Tears welled up in her eyes, and she quickly tried to get out of bed. Abhiraj gently grasped her wrist, pulling her back towards him. "Where are you going?" he asked.
"To meet my lover," she replied sarcastically.
Abhiraj pulled her closer, positioning himself above her. "Meet your lover later," he said, "Let's have a little morning exercise first." He lay beside her, pulling her into his embrace. Then, he placed a gentle kiss on her cheek and whispered,
"chalo biwi thoda pyar karte hain"
Chitrangada, irritated, retorted, "Leave me alone. I have a lot of work to do."
Abhiraj said in his husky voice" kaam baad mein kar Lena lekin apne pati ko khus karne ke baad"
Chitrangada blushed, her chocolaty brown cheeks become crimson red. After a few moments, Abhiraj released her. And she went in kitchen
Amisha's School:
Amisha was late for school again and had to seek permission from her teacher to enter the classroom. Her teacher scolded her, "You're always late, never study, and only care about loitering around." Amisha ignored her teacher and sat down at the last bench.
The teacher continued, "Students, we have a new classmate. Meet Miss Arya, who has joined our class today."
(Arya, a 17-year-old girl, appeared quite innocent. She introduced herself to the class, but the other students looked at her with disdain. They were from affluent families, and Arya's clothes seemed old and worn.)
One girl snickered, "Looks like she just came straight from the fields, her clothes are filthy."
Another chimed in, "You're right. I bet she didn't even bathe today. Look at her face, it's disgusting."
Arya remained silent, her gaze shifting nervously from one face to another. No one offered to sit beside her.
The teacher instructed her, "Go sit beside Amisha at the last bench." Arya quietly moved to the last bench and sat beside Amisha.
Amisha scrutinized Arya from head to toe and said, "New student, huh?" Arya nodded in agreement. The teacher resumed her lesson, and both girls remained silent.
After about 30 minutes, the teacher stepped out of the classroom. Some of the snobbish girls approached Arya and began to mock her poverty. Amisha, who detested these girls, picked up her water bottle and sprayed them with water, chasing them away.
Arya thanked her, and Amisha replied, "Amisha Kapoor doesn't do anything for free."
Arya questioned, "What do you mean?"
Amisha explained, "I saved you from those girls, so now you'll do my homework."
Arya nodded in agreement. Amisha then instructed her, "Do the homework neatly. My tutor is very strict. He thinks he's some kind of genius, just because he got good and handsome face . What a pompous ass!" Arya smiled at her remark.
To Amisha's astonishment, Arya finished her homework in a matter of minutes. Amisha was shocked. It would have taken her hours to complete the same amount of work.
Lunchtime arrived, and Amisha opened her tiffin box and began to enjoy her delicious chowmein. She offered some to Arya, "Why aren't you eating?"
Arya replied, "I didn't bring lunch."
> Amisha inquired, "Why not?"
Arya replied softly, "Because I don't have a mother like yours."
Amisha insisted, "Don't worry, have some of mine. I'm full anyway."
Arya hesitated initially but finally accepted Amisha's offer.
"How was it?" Amisha asked. "Tasty, wasn't it?"
Arya smiled and nodded.
Amisha then asked, "Where are your parents?"
Arya's face clouded over. "They... they died in an accident," she replied softly.
The two girls spent the rest of the day talking and getting to know each other.
As school ended, Amisha looked for her driver but couldn't find him. She saw Ranvijay instead. Her face fell. Apparently, her driver and Avinash were out of town, so Avinash had asked Ranvijay to pick her up. Arya followed Amisha silently.
As soon as Ranvijay saw Arya, his face turned red with anger. Arya's face also fell, and she felt a wave of sadness wash over her.
Ranvijay angrily told Amisha to get in the car and drove away. Arya walked towards her home, tears streaming down her face. Her home was little more than a dilapidated shack. She quickly prepared a simple meal for herself and then left for the cafe where she worked part-time. Her meager salary of 6000 rupees barely sufficed to support herself.
Arya was completely alone in the world. She had received her school admission through a scholarship.
Arya had just returned home from school. Today, she had seen Ranvijay, and it had made her deeply sad. All her old wounds reopened. She quickly grabbed her teddy bear and began to cry. She spoke to it in a tearful voice, saying,
"Today, I saw him again. He still hates me." "I wish they knew that I never did anything wrong."
At that moment, Arya, like a small child, hugged her teddy bear and wept. No one had ever loved her since childhood. Due to misunderstandings, she had been thrown out of her home at a very young age. Now, she had no one. She struggled to gather money for food and other necessities. At such a young age, she had to work in various places: sometimes as a waitress in a café, sometimes working at the house of a wealthy man.
Now, she was getting ready to go to the café. She quickly left for work. The café owner looked at her angrily and said,
"You've finally shown up."
Arya, with an innocent expression, replied, "I had school today, so I was late. I promise I won't be late from tomorrow."
The manager told her, "Fine, go and take the order from table number 10."
When Arya reached table number 10 to take the order, she was shocked to see who it was—none other than Ranvijay. He looked at her coldly, threw a cup of coffee at her, and said,
"Even drinking a glass of water from your hands is a crime for me."
After saying this, Ranvijay pushed her aside and left. The café manager then approached Arya and scolded her,
"Since you started working here, you've been causing one problem after another. I'm firing you!"
Arya, with a calm demeanor, replied, "That's fine, but at least give me my salary for the work I've done."
The manager, seething with anger, said, "Get out of here, or I'll have my bodyguards make you regret it."
Arya returned home, holding her teddy bear in her arms and crying. She looked up at the sky and, in a sorrowful tone, said,
"Mom, please come back. I miss you so much. Please come back. I haven't eaten anything today; I'm so hungry."
She wept uncontrollably, and eventually, exhausted, she fell asleep on the cold floor.
The next morning,
Abhiraj came out of his room and into the kitchen. He had decided that he would no longer show any softness towards Chitrangda. If he did, he might get caught up in her love and lose his chance for revenge. He searched for Chitrangda.
Then, he saw her in a red saree, her hair styled in a bun, and vermilion applied in her parting. She looked stunning. Abhiraj stood there, mesmerized by her beauty for a moment, but then he quickly suppressed his emotions. With anger, he walked up to her and said,
"Why are you dressed like a bride today? Where are you going?"
As he said this, he wiped off the lipstick from her lips.
Chitrangda, looking at him, replied, "It's Thursday, and I have done fasting today."
Abhiraj, still angry, responded, "You're fasting, yet you're dressed like a bride? Or is this some new trick to trap me?"
"Have you ever looked at your face in the mirror? Look at me—I'm handsome and young, and look at you—what a poor sight you are."
Abhiraj spoke these words purely to satisfy his ego. However, everyone, except Abhiraj, could see how beautiful Chitrangda looked in that red saree.
He continued, "You're going to stand here all day, and by the way, bring me food too."
Without saying a word, Chitrangda left and returned with food for him. She had made biryani. Abhiraj tasted the biryani and then gave her a cold look. Suddenly, he threw the plate of biryani on the floor and said,
"This is what you call food? Neither your face nor your cooking is of any value."
Chitrangda, deeply hurt by his words, said, "If you hate me so much, then why did you marry me? Tell me, why did you come to me in the first place?"
Abhiraj was enraged and slapped Chitrangda hard across the face. He then said, "You've gotten too bold. I've been patient with you all this time, but now you've grown wings."
Just then, Abhiraj's phone vibrated. It was a call from Avinash, who was inviting him to his engagement.
