Avinash and Mitra were sleeping with their arms around each other. A soft light filtered in through the window, awakening Mitra.
Mitra opened her eyes and looked at Avinash. She was very close to him, and he held her tightly in his embrace.
He was still lost in the world of sleep. When Mitra realized how close she was to Avinash, she blushed crimson, like a ripe Kashmiri apple.
As she tried to wriggle out of his embrace, Avinash tightened his hold, pulling her even closer.
At that moment, one of Avinash's hands rested on Mitra's stomach, and the other was in her hair. Mitra said, "Listen, let me go."
Avinash, in a drowsy voice, replied, "What happened, witch? Why are you shouting so much?"
Mitra said, "Your 'tharki' (pervert) tendencies have started again. Look at yourself and me."
When Avinash saw how close he was to Mitra, he pushed her away, covered himself with the blanket, and said,
"chudail tu khoon toh pitti hi thi ab Jawan ladko ka faida bhi uthane lagi hain yeh baghwan bacha lo mujhe iss chudail se meri izzat pani mein mil gayi ab agar mein iss chudail se pregnent ho gaya toh kya hoga kon apnayega mujhe hey baghwan!!!!!"
Mitra picked up a water jug and threw it at Avinash's face. She said, "Look, pervert, you started all this, not me. Understand? And stop this nonsense, I have a lot of other work to do."
Avinash pouted and went to the bathroom to take a shower.
Amisha hotel room.
Amisha sat up in bed, her head throbbing. She couldn't recall anything from the previous night. Suddenly, the door to her room swung open, and Ranvijay entered. Amisha's face crumpled at the sight of him.
"Ranvijay Ji, I don't want to study now," she said.
Ranvijay leaned in close, his voice low, "What were you doing with me last night?"
"What do you mean, 'what was I doing'?" Amisha replied, confused.
Ranvijay pulled a string of her blouse from his pocket, "This is what you were doing with me last night."
Amisha's mind raced. "Did I take advantage of Ranvijay Ji last night? No, that can't be true."
Noticing her lost in thought, Ranvijay moved closer, "You don't remember what you did to me last night?"
Amisha shook her head. Ranvijay leaned in further, "You were drunk and kept asking me to tie your hook"
"Hook ? What kind of hook ? Where? Which hook ?" Amisha stammered.
Ranvijay smirked, "choli ka hook, aur kya"
"This is ridiculous! Don't say such things. I understand you're handsome, but you can't impose yourself on others," Amisha retorted.
Ranvijay closed the distance between them, his voice now a low growl, "Imagine what would have happened if I hadn't tie your hook with last night?"
"What would have happened?" Amisha asked, but Ranvijay ignored her,"kal raat hum do jaan ek jisam ho jate"
Amisha's face flushed crimson. Ranvijay leaned back, a warning in his eyes, "You understand now that I'm not someone to be trifled with. You got away with it last night, but I can't guarantee the same will happen again."
And with that, Ranvijay turned and left the room.
11:00 AM:
Everyone was leaving the hotel to go home. Abhiraj and Chitrangada were in the same car.
Abhiraj and Chitrangada were both silent. Abhiraj was driving, and Chitrangada was sitting in the back seat. Chitrangada was looking out the window. It was the time of Chhath Puja in Bihar, and Chitrangada was missing her home very much. Especially Vivan and Gauri. Gauri observed this puja every year, and Chitrangada would come home from college for it, no matter what.
Abhiraj was also remembering his mother. When his mother was alive, she used to observe the Chhath fast every year. He remembered how his mother used to perform the puja and how he used to go to the Chhath Ghat with his father.
Soon, they arrived home. As soon as they entered the house, Abhiraj was shocked to see his grandmother sitting on the sofa. She looked at Abhiraj angrily and said,
"I just came from Dhanraj's house (Abhiraj's father), and he told me that you got married."
"Shilpi (Abhiraj's stepmother) also told me that you haven't introduced your wife to anyone since your marriage."
Abhiraj gestured to Chitrangada, who went to his grandmother, touched her feet, and took her blessings.
Abhiraj's grandmother (Jugni Devi) hugged Chitrangada and said, "You have brought a daughter-in-law like the moon, my son."
"But I am very angry with Abhiraj for not telling me anything.
Then she told Abhiraj, "It's okay, you both are newly married, and this will be your first Chhath after marriage. So, I want my daughter-in-law to observe this fast."
Chitrangada was also happy because God had listened to her. Then, her grandmother said, "This fast starts tomorrow. Understand, daughter-in-law?" Chitrangada smiled.
"She told Abhiraj, "Don't go to the office for four days. Understand? Go with your wife and bring all the things needed for the Chhath fast."
After sometime
Abhiraj and Chitrangada were out shopping for Chhath Puja, their faces were beaming with joy. For Abhiraj, this was a particularly special occasion as it brought back fond memories of his mother.
Chitrangada turned to Abhiraj, "We should buy some wheat so we can wash and dry it today. That way, we won't have any trouble preparing the prasad on the day of Kharna (the second day of Chhath Puja). And besides, the mill will be very crowded now."
Abhiraj nodded in agreement.
They then went to a mall to buy a saree for Chitrangada. As soon as Abhiraj entered, the mall manager rushed over,
"Mr. Rajput, we should have been informed about your visit."
Abhiraj remained silent.
The manager continued, "What would you like to purchase from our mall?"
"A cotton saree," Abhiraj replied.
The manager called his staff, "Please show Mr. Rajput our finest collection of cotton sarees."
The staff bowed and gestured for Abhiraj and Chitrangada to follow them.
As they browsed through the sarees, Chitrangada felt overwhelmed. She turned to Abhiraj, "Which one should I get?"
"I don't know ?" Abhiraj replied.
Chitrangada said nothing.
Abhiraj's eyes fell on a beautiful red cotton saree. He turned to Chitrangada, "Try this one. It will look lovely on you."
Chitrangada smiled at the sight of the saree.
After selecting the saree, they went to buy firewood for the puja.
By the time they finished their shopping, it was night.
Chitrangada was exhausted and fell asleep in the car. When Abhiraj opened the car door, he saw her fast asleep. He smiled to himself, thinking, "This crazy girl fell asleep here."
After a while, he tried to wake her up, but she wouldn't budge. So, he gently picked her up and carried her inside.
Jugni Devi, Abhiraj's grandmother, was waiting for them on the sofa.
"You both took so long. I was so worried," she said.
Just then, Chitrangada tightened her grip on Abhiraj. Both Jugni Devi and Abhiraj turned their attention to Chitrangada, who was still asleep.
Seeing them, Jugni Devi looked at Abhiraj with a mischievous glint in her eye, "You're taking such good care of my granddaughter. Now, all I need is a great-grandchild."
Abhiraj replied, "Grandma, it's too soon for that. We just got married."
Jugni Devi chuckled, "The way I see you two, I think we'll have some good news soon."
She said nothing more and went to her room.
When Abhiraj carried Chitrangada to bed, she clung to him tightly, causing him to fall on top of her. She woke up with a start. Abhiraj looked at her and said, "You're being a little too wild tonight, wifey."
"Get off me, you shameless man," Chitrangada replied, pushing him away.
Abhiraj grabbed her wrists and pulled her closer, kissing her.
Just then, Jugni Devi entered the room, "Abhiraj, where did you put the wheat?"
Hearing her grandmother's voice, Abhiraj pulled away from Chitrangada.
Jugni Devi looked at them and said, "I'm sure I'll be getting good news very soon."
Chitrangada's cheeks turned as red as a rose. Seeing this, Jugni Devi said, "Why are you so shy around him? Many times I have seen him naked "
Abhiraj, shamlessly replied, " ha toh meri biwi ne bhi mujhe Bina kapde ke bahut baar dekha hain"
Chitrangada blushed and left the room.
Jugni Devi turned to Abhiraj, "Why do you tease her so much? She's left now."
Abhiraj replied, "Well, without a little teasing, how will you get your grandchildren?"
Jugni Devi patted him on the head. remember, Dhanraj and Shilpi are coming tomorrow evening for the Kharna prasad."
Abhiraj's face turned cold. "Why did you invite them?"
Jugni Devi replied, "Let bygones be bygones. Forgive your father."
Abhiraj shook his head, "I can never forgive him for what he did to my mother. He took away her rights and gave them to that woman, Shilpi. She seduced my father for money. You know, Grandma, Father never truly loved Mother. If he had, he wouldn't have married again and left us alone."
Abhiraj confesses his hatred for his parents to his grandmother. His grandmother remains silent and walks away to the living hall.
There, Chitrangada is cooking. She says to the grandmother, "Please eat, Dadi, I've prepared food for you."
The grandmother responds angrily, "Why did you cook? Aren't there servants in this house? Abhiraj earns so much money, but he can't hire a servant for his wife?"
Chitrangada smiles and replies, "It's alright, Dadi. I feel restless if I don't do some work."
Jugni gently places her hand on Chitrangada's head and says, "Abhiraj truly brought home the moon. You're such a gem. Now go to sleep, dear. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day."
Chitrangada nods and quietly goes to her room. Meanwhile, Abhiraj's grandmother prays softly to herself, "Oh, Chhathi Maiya, please protect the bond between Abhiraj and Chitrangada."
Abhiraj's Room
Abhiraj is lying on the bed, fast asleep. Chitrangada enters the room and notices him. She says softly, "You've fallen asleep without eating dinner?"
Suddenly, Abhiraj replies, "I don't need to eat food; I need to eat you, my wife."
Chitrangada, startled, looks at him wide-eyed and moves to sleep on the floor. But Abhiraj grabs her hand firmly and pulls her toward him, saying, "Come here, let's do it."
Chitrangada stammers, "D-Do what?"
Abhiraj whispers something in her ear, making her cheeks flush bright red. Chitrangada responds nervously, "I have a lot of work tomorrow. Please let me sleep."
Abhiraj says nothing further and embraces her tightly, falling asleep with her in his arms.
Chitrangada tries to wriggle free from his embrace, but Abhiraj teases, "You wanted to sleep, didn't you? So why aren't you sleeping now?"
Chitrangada replies, "I don't feel comfortable like this."
Abhiraj smirks and warns, "Go to sleep now, or be ready to stay up all night."
Without saying another word, Chitrangada lies still and falls asleep.
The Next Morning
It was the first day of Nahay-Khay for Chhath Puja. Chitrangada had completed all the preparations flawlessly. Jugni was overjoyed seeing how perfectly everything was organized.
The first day of Chhath passed peacefully, with Chitrangada managing everything skillfully.
The Second Day (Kharna)
At 6:00 PM, Chitrangada was preparing kheer for the Kharna ritual. Abhiraj entered the prayer room and was left mesmerized upon seeing her.
She was wearing the red saree he had bought for her specifically for the Puja. Her sindoor extended from her nose to the top of her forehead. Her hair was loose, adorned with gold earrings, and her hands were covered in beautiful bangles. A delicate anklet graced her feet. For a moment, Abhiraj was reminded of his mother.
Chitrangada, clad in traditional Bihari attire, looked like a divine embodiment of Chhathi Maiya herself.
Just then, Jugni entered the room and noticed Abhiraj staring at Chitrangada. She chuckled and said, "Abhiraj, finish your tasks later. Your wife isn't going anywhere."
She turned to Chitrangada and asked, "Bahu is the kheer ready?"
Chitrangada replied, "Yes, Dadi, it's done."
Jugni said, "Good, now hurry up and finish the Puja. The guests will start arriving soon."
Chitrangada nodded and performed the Puja.
As Abhiraj stepped into the hall, he noticed that some family members had arrived, and it made his blood boil. He was about to leave when Akshit approached him and said, "What's this, brother? You got married and didn't even tell us? Come on, show us Bhabi's face!"
Abhiraj shot him a cold glare. Jugni arrived just in time and gestured for Abhiraj to touch Shilpi and Dhanraj's feet. Abhiraj reluctantly bent down to touch Dhanraj's feet but ignored Shilpi's.
This infuriated Shilpi, and she turned to Jugni, saying, "Mother-in-law, your grandson got married, and no one was informed!"
Abhiraj retorted, "You are not worthy of being informed, Mrs. Rajput."
Just then, Chitrangada entered the room. Shilpi glanced at her and made a snide comment, "So, this is the moon Abhiraj brought home? You forgot to mention it's an Amavasya moon. Look at her—so dusky compared to Abhiraj, who is so handsome."
Jugni responded sharply, "Yes, a few years ago, we also brought home a 'beautiful' daughter-in-law, but she turned out to be useless. My Chitrangada, on the other hand, is wonderful and hardworking, just like my late daughter-in-law, Pratima."
Shilpi, annoyed, muttered, "Alright, alright, let's not drag this out. Just give me the offerings. I have other work to do."
Meanwhile, Akshit approached Chitrangada, hugged her, and said, "Bhabi, you're so lovely. Brother is so lucky to have you as his wife."
Abhiraj intervened sternly, "Stay away from my wife, Akshit."
Akshit laughed, "Brother, you've become possessive!"
Abhiraj glared at him until he stepped back.
The Dining Hall
Everyone gathered to enjoy the kheer and offerings of Kharna. By now, Avinash, Amisha, Ranvijay, and Mitra had also arrived.
In an attempt to tease Abhiraj, Akshit commented, "Whoever made this kheer, I feel like kissing his/ her hands."
Ranvijay smirked and said, "First, grow some milk teeth before you think about kissing anyone's hands."
Eventually, everyone left for their homes.
Jugni said to Chitrangada, "Go and rest now, dear. You've worked hard today. And don't take Shilpi's words to heart; that's just how she is."
Chitrangada gave a sweet smile and retired to her room.
Room Scene
After speaking with her grandmother, Chitrangada quietly went back to her room. Abhiraj was lounging on the sofa, engrossed in his phone. Ignoring him, Chitrangada walked toward the bathroom, but before she could take another step, Abhiraj grabbed her hand and pulled her close, causing her to fall onto his lap.
Looking into her eyes, Abhiraj said, "What's the matter, my beautiful wife? You look stunning today. You're making me want to do so many things."
Chitrangada, trying to free herself, replied nervously, "Please don't do anything. I've been fasting for 36 hours, and we need to wake up early tomorrow morning."
Abhiraj smirked, rubbing his nose against her cheek. "Consider yourself lucky, wife. I'm letting you go because of Dadi and Chhath Puja. Don't get too comfortable, though; you've been getting quite bold lately."
He then added, "Tonight, we're sleeping on the sofa together."
Chitrangada, startled, said, "What?"
Abhiraj looked at her, his tone firm. "You didn't hear me? "
Without waiting for a reply, he lay down on the small sofa, pulling Chitrangada close. The sofa was cramped, leaving Abhiraj sprawled half over her. Chitrangada, though nervous, stayed still, feeling awkward yet strangely comforted. Soon, they both drifted off to sleep.
Next Morning
Abhiraj was still sleeping over Chitrangada when she began shifting uncomfortably in her sleep. Murmuring, she said, "Abhiraj ji, you're so heavy. If you keep this up, I'll be crushed under you and die."
Abhiraj woke up and looked at her with amusement. Chitrangada opened her eyes and pleaded, "Please get up. My whole body hurts."
Abhiraj smirked mischievously, "Hurting without doing anything, wife?"
Ignoring his teasing, Chitrangada got up and started to walk away. But Abhiraj quickly pulled her back and said, "We're going to the Chhath Ghat today for the Sandhya Arghya. I don't want any drama from you. Understood?"
Chitrangada nodded quickly.
"Speak up!" Abhiraj said sternly.
"Y-yes, I understand," Chitrangada stammered.
Abhiraj patted her cheek lightly and said, "Good girl. Now go."
Living Room Scene
In the living room, Jugni Ji was looking for Chitrangada. After a few minutes, Chitrangada came into view.
Jugni Ji said, "What took you so long, child? We still have to make thekua, and we need to leave for the ghat in the evening!"
Chitrangada replied softly, "I was exhausted yesterday, Dadi. I'm sorry. It won't happen again."
Jugni Ji smiled and placed her hand lovingly on Chitrangada's head. "It's alright, my dear. Come now, let's make thekua together."
The two of them began preparing for the evening rituals.
Afternoon (3:00 PM)
The Rajput Villa was buzzing with excitement as it was finally time to leave for the Chhath Ghat. Jugni Ji called out to Abhiraj, "Hurry up, son! Pick up the daura (basket with offerings) and let's go. We need to reach the ghat before sunset, or we won't get a good spot to offer the Arghya to Aditya Baba (the Sun God)."
Abhiraj picked up the daura and Jugni Ji began singing a traditional Chhath song:

( This is the sing which jugni Devi is singing)
Soon, the family reached the Chhath Ghat.
Evening Sandhya Arghya Scene
Chitrangada quickly changed into her traditional attire and stood waist-deep in the river, her hands folded in prayer to Ganga Maiya. After an hour of deep meditation, she opened her eyes and called out to Jugni Ji, "Dadi, please pass me the kal sup."
Before handing over the kal sup, Jugni Ji lovingly applied sindoor from Chitrangada's nose to her hairline, then gave her the kalash.
Chitrangada began the ritual, offering Arghya to the setting sun. Jugni Ji instructed Abhiraj to pour water over the kal sup. Without protest, he followed her instructions, all the while mesmerized by Chitrangada's radiant beauty as she performed the puja.
Once the ritual was complete, Jugni Ji said, "Let's head home quickly, Abhiraj. There's a lot to prepare for tomorrow's Usha Arghya, and we need to leave by 3:00 AM."
Abhiraj nodded in agreement.
Next Day (Early Morning)
At 2:00 AM, Jugni Ji called out to Abhiraj, "Hurry, Abhiraj! If we delay any further, we'll get stuck in traffic on the way to the ghat!"
Chitrangada added, "Dadi is right. We need to get there early to secure a spot before the morning crowd."
Abhiraj lifted the daura once again, and Jugni Ji began singing another soulful Chhath song as they made their way to the ghat foras they made their way to the ghat for the final morning rituals.
