Sakura's breathing was still shallow, her hands trembling as she clung to Haru, unable to fully process what had just happened. The trauma of the events was fresh, and her body felt like it was rebelling against her attempts to calm down. Haru's strong arms around her were the only thing keeping her from crumbling.
But the world around them was still spinning. As the staff members and security guards approached, their eyes widened at the sight of Sakura—her jumper torn, her face flushed with fear, and her eyes wild with the kind of terror that couldn't be ignored.
"What's going on?" one of the staff members shouted, rushing toward them as the guards flanked them. Haru didn't hesitate. He wasn't about to let anyone else touch her, but he knew the time for action had come. He had to make sure everything was taken seriously.
"She's been sexually harassed. Kenji Yamada spiked her drink last week, and now he has assaulted her." Haru's voice was firm, his protective instincts kicking in full force. His gaze was locked on the security guards and staff as he spoke, his words echoing in the hallway with authority.
The security guard who had been closest to them immediately stepped forward, his expression grim as he reached for his radio. "We need backup. Someone call the police. Now."
As Haru held Sakura close, he could hear the buzz of the radio and the sound of the police sirens growing nearer. His heart pounded in his chest. He couldn't wait for the authorities to arrive fast enough.
It wasn't long before the police officers arrived in full force, their presence almost immediately commanding attention. Haru stepped slightly away from Sakura, though he kept a hand on her shoulder as she still clung to him, too traumatised to speak.
One of the officers approached them with professional seriousness, his eyes scanning Sakura's dishevelled state. He didn't need to ask much. He could see it all.
"Who are you?" The officer turned to Haru, his voice demanding but not unkind.
"I'm Haru Soma, her boyfriend," Haru replied, his voice calm but edged with the tension he was feeling. "This is Sakura Suzuki. She's been through a lot."
The officer nodded, understanding the seriousness of the situation. "Did you witness what happened?"
Haru clenched his jaw, his eyes flickering back to Sakura, still trembling in his arms. "I didn't witness the details," he said, his voice steady but filled with quiet anger. "But I saw my girlfriend burst out of a room. Her jumper was torn. Her wrist was bruised."
Haru's fists clenched at the thought. "She told me someone tried to touch her." His voice trembled just slightly as he spoke, but he was careful to hold his composure. "A man named Kenji Yamada spiked her drink last week at a karaoke place. He got arrested for that. And today he—he sexually harassed her. He grabbed her, and when she tried to fight back, he hurt her."
The officers exchanged looks, taking in the details. Haru was speaking with the raw truth, and it was impossible for them to ignore.
"Sakura can't speak right now," Haru continued, his tone determined, "She's too shaken. But I'm telling you—Kenji is responsible."
The officer nodded, making mental notes. "We'll need to get a full statement from her when she's able to speak. We can't fully proceed without hearing from the victim herself." He turned to one of his colleagues, giving them a signal to pull out a pad of paper for documentation.
Haru remained calm, though his insides were raging. "I understand. But please… take care of her. Make sure Kenji doesn't get away with this."
The officer nodded again. "We'll do everything we can."
At that moment, Kenji was led through the hall, his hands cuffed behind his back, his face still covered in the blood from where Sakura had struck him with the beer bottle. He was still muttering insults, but his voice faltered as he saw Haru's icy glare.
"You're under arrest for sexual harassment, assault, and spiking a drink," one officer said as they pulled Kenji away. He was barely able to stand, but there was still a look of arrogance in his eyes. The officer's words had no effect on him, but the coldness in the air told him everything.
The police turned to Haru, nodding toward the students who were still lingering. "We need all students to leave the area immediately," one officer called out. "No one can stay here while we continue the investigation. Please make sure the area is cleared."
Sakura's eyes darted from the officers to the rest of the students. She barely registered their gazes, but her pulse quickened as she heard the whispers. "Did you hear what happened?" "Is that really Kenji?" "What did he do to her?"
The tension in the air was thick, but Haru remained by Sakura's side. He wasn't leaving her. Not now. Not ever.
As the officers cleared the area, Haru's grip on Sakura tightened, his voice soft but filled with determination. "You're safe now. Don't worry. They'll take care of it."
Sakura didn't say anything in response, still too lost in the events to process much of what was happening. But Haru's presence was a lifeline, something solid she could cling to as the rest of the world seemed to spiral out of control.
